Does it seem like everyone is in the Christmas spirit but you? How do you handle the holidays when you don’t feel like celebrating? Read on for some tips on how to celebrate Christmas during tough times.
How to Celebrate Christmas When You Don’t Feel Like Celebrating
In our Instagram-perfect world, there is a heck-of-a-lot of pressure to curate a meticulous, idyllic life for the world to see. Factor in Christmas and the ante is upped. By a lot.
We all know, on some level, that those picture-perfect-Instagram-lives are only a small part of someone’s universe. And a lot of times, the pictures are carefully cropped and arranged to leave out all the mess – literal and figurative.
So, when Christmas rolls around, what do you do if your ‘mess’ is the most dominant thing in your life right now? All the imperfect parts that you wish would go away? You’re not really in the partying mood.
I went through this a few years ago, after my 2nd miscarriage in a row, both of which occurred right before Christmas. I was feeling far from the Insta-perfect Christmas I was bombarded with.
If that’s you, you’re not alone. Many have felt like that, and trust me, many are feeling this way right now. I had the privilege to share my experience and some of my tips for getting through the holidays during tough times over at Just a Simple Home. If you need some encouragement, head on over and take a look.
My prayers are sincerely with you. I am never far from remembering what it was like for me during those years. I would love to pray for you specifically if you feel comfortable enough to share your request.
Praying that you discover Jesus this year as ‘Emmanuel’ – ‘God with us.’ And specifically, God with you.
xoxo
I derive more fun from just driving around to places I have never been before rather than sitting somewhere doing the usual routine of watching kids play. It’s fun and saves on cost.
Great idea! I would do that a lot when my boys were really little and fell asleep in the car. I would just keep driving to new places. Very therapeutic, too (As long as there’s no traffic!) lol. Thank you so much for coming by, Judith!
