The Kind of Mom Who Buys Snacks. I Just Am.
I think there comes a point in your life where you learn – and accept – the kind of person you are: the kind of professional, the kind of friend, the kind of wife, the kind of mom.
I’ve finally come to accept that I’m just not one of those homey moms who sew clothes for their kids or make cakes and cookies from scratch. A lot of times I wish I were ‘that mom’- and I’d love to grow in those areas – but at present, that’s just not me. And I’ve come to be OK with that and comfortable in my average-mom skin.
However, it’s really important to me that I make an honest attempt for my kids to eat healthy. I’m aware enough to know how awful artificial ingredients and preservatives are. I wish I could make everything fresh, but I know that’s just not realistic for me right now.
But I’m Still a Healthy Mom Who Wants to Give My Kids Healthy, Organic Snacks
So, the next best thing is, if I have to give my kids packaged snacks, at least they can be organic. And thankfully, there are so many great options that my little guys love. I feel a ton better knowing that even if these snacks can’t be made in my kitchen, at least no unhealthy ingredients have made their way in.
And Did I Say It Has to Be Easy? (#tiredmom)
I’m on the go with my 3-year-old twin boys a lot, so packing healthy snacks in a quick and easy way is a survival skill. Because I value their health and my sanity, I scouted out the best grab-and-go organic snacks out there. The most you might have to do is take snacks like cereal or chips out of the packaging and throw them in a Ziploc. Otherwise, just grab and go.
These snacks are great for outings with the kids, back-to-school lunches, or when the kids are starving-not-starving after school.
A few things about what you’ll find below:
- While most of these are all organic, they do contain natural sugars and fats. Just because they’re organic doesn’t mean the kids should binge. But these are some of the healthiest alternatives out there. (There are a few that aren’t organic, but they have no artificial ingredients or preservatives, so I included them, too).
- I’ve arranged them by store, so you can scout out the organic, grab-and-go, healthy snacks for kids, depending on where you shop: Trader Joes, Target, Aldi, and Amazon. For Target and Amazon, I’ve linked the pictures to the site, if you want to shop online. Just click on the picture to order online.
- For Target items, when you click on the picture and you are brought to the webpage, there are lots of other flavors and varieties offered, besides the one shown. The same is true for a few (not all) of the Amazon links as well.
- There are a few items that overlap from store to store – that’s intentional, just to highlight that you can get these items in different places, depending on where you shop. Sometimes it’s the exact same brand and item, sometimes it’s a different brand of the same item.
- Forgive the quality in some pictures! I had my 2 squirrely 3-year-old boys along for the ride, and while they were somewhat patient, they weren’t too into their mom staging every single picture.
- I’ve created a free printable shopping list by store, so whether you are going to a physical store or shopping online, you can have easy access to the items you are looking for, without needing to pull up and scroll through this post. Be sure to fill out the box at the end of this post to grab it.

Trader Joe’s Healthy Snacks for Kids
I always feel better whenever I buy anything from Trader Joe’s. Of course, they had a great selection of organic snacks. I pictured just one flavor of a certain item, but often, there were more to choose from. Just beware – if organic is really important to you, not every Trader Joe item or every item in Trader Joe’s is organic. Just be sure the label says ‘organic,’ even if it’s not TJ brand. Everything shown here is organic.
{On the printable shopping list, I left the word ‘organic’ in the item title, just to highlight that there might be another item put out by Trader Joe’s that isn’t organic.}

When it comes to price, you can’t beat Aldi. My husband always asks how much something was at Aldi, and half the time, I don’t even know because I don’t even look anymore; I just know they’re the cheapest. They have their own organic line, Simply Nature, and it is expanding all the time. I’ve been very impressed with their selection, even beyond snacks. If you see ‘Simply Nature’ on the label, you are good to go with it being organic.

If you are looking for your favorite organic snacks along with some pretty unique ones not found in the stores, Amazon is for you. You can find Annie’s and other popular organic brands there, and there are also some little known organic products, too, to widen your variety. Of course, Amazon usually has the best prices around and you can’t beat 2-day delivery for Prime members either. Love, love, love Amazon, for everything. (If you aren’t a Prime member, you can try it out for 30 days for free. That’s how I got hooked, lol).
