Dessert Dips = Fan Favorite EVERY Time
Ever since I made a cannoli dip to bring as a dessert to my sister’s house for Christmas, I’ve been hooked. I LOVE dessert dips. I’m a grazer by nature, so if there’s a platter I can hover over and satisfy my sweet tooth at the same time (along the lines of chips and salsa but sweet), I’m here for it.
I’ve made dessert dips before, and while the good thing is that you probably don’t eat too much of it, the bad thing is that it’s really not that hard to eat too much of it. And if you do, well, it’s fine for a once-in-a-while splurge, but not really great for the waistline.
As I was researching some dessert dips for my dessert dip charcuterie board post (which just takes the idea of dessert dips to a whole other level), I started to think about the idea of skinny dessert dips. What if we could take these delicious yummy dips and just make them a tad bit healthier?
Light, Skinny… Healthy Dessert Dips
I use that word ‘healthy’ loosely – I don’t know if I’d call them healthy as much as I’d call them ‘skinny’ or ‘light’ – maybe less calories, sugar, and fat. {Which maybe can be ‘healthier’ (maybe?) but calling them ‘healthy’ mightttt be a little stretch?} I’ll leave the terminology to your personal judgment. Maybe we’ll say “healthier”?
Today, I’ve gathered 30 amazing skinny dessert dips. As I’ve mentioned before, each one is incredible as a stand-alone dessert. But you can certainly up your game a little and create a dessert dip charcuterie board, which is downright impressive.
A Few Things to Know About These Skinny Dessert Dip Recipes
As I mentioned before, most of these are skinny because they use ‘lighter’ versions of their counterparts – light cream cheese, non-fat yogurt, sugar-free caramel. If these aren’t issues for you, feel free to use the full-fat or full-calorie versions of the same recipes if you really like the recipe.
Some are Healthier than Others
There are a few recipes in the mix here that are actually healthy as in ‘clean eating.’ They are using real food ingredients, not just ‘lighter’ versions. I’ve tried to indicate in the description which ones would fall into the ‘clean eating’ categories. Those include some non-typical dessert ingredients like chickpeas or oats.
All are most likely less fat and less calories than the ‘regular’ recipe would be.
Similar Ingredients
You’ll see that many of these recipes are variations of each other. Many use vary similar base ingredients and just flavor it up a little different. You’ll see cream cheese, Greek yogurt, whipped cream in their lighter forms listed in many of the ingredient lists.
Know Your Health Goals
I’m a believer that it’s fine to splurge sometimes. You can do that with the full fat and calorie versions, or if it helps you stick with the eating program or plan you’re on, then eat a skinny version. I just don’t think total deprivation is going to help anyone in the long-term.
Personally, I’ve found clean eating the way to go, but everyone is different. And going off the clean eating path once in a while is OK, too. I’ve found that an 80/20 healthy eating lifestyle is doable and effective for most of us.
I’m saying all that just so you can be aware of which dessert dips you choose to make – the full-on decadent ones, the lighter ones, or the clean ones.
OK, all the preaching done, here are those amazing skinny dessert dips. We’re talking healthy funfetti, healthy cannoli, healthy brownie batter… let’s go.
