The Magic of Watercolor Painting (for Kids and Adults)
I generally feel like I’m late to the game with some craft ideas, and just recently (thank you, homeschooling co-op!), watercolor painting has just come on my radar.
I tried a simple project this winter to add watercolors to these free printable ornaments for my Jesse tree, but really found that it is so relaxing and something I want to do a little more of!
When you find a project or easy DIY that you enjoy – AND you can do with your kids – AND you can create for an inexpensive holiday card or craft – it’s just winning all round.
DIY Valentine’s Day Cards using Watercolors
My sons are 7 years old (2nd grade), and we’ve just started homeschooling this year. When they were in public school, we were a big fan of creating our own DIY Valentine’s Day cards to give out to the class and finding ways to share a positive message with their classmates.
I’m not sure if our homeschool co-ops do the Valentine’s Day card thing, but I’m always looking for easy holiday projects and crafts. And, we have grandparents nearby who we’d love to give a homemade card to – so this idea is perfect for us, too.
There are many creative ideas and methods that you can try below!
Most are fine for kids of all ages and can be adapted to the particular age of your children. There are also a few options that are especially geared for older kids, kids who have real talent in art and painting, and for grown-ups. Something for everyone!
The best part about these ideas is that they are also transferable to so many other crafts using the same method – more seasonal cards, arts and crafts, even just bringing the paints outdoors (hello, 1000 Hours Outside!).

Those are at the very end of the roundup.
