If you need some last-minute Valentine’s Day cards for your child’s classroom, check out these cute and clever ideas! All have free printables with lots of different options – non-candy, for boys, for girls, gender-neutral and more! Perfect for kid classmates!
The Big Deal of Valentine’s Day Classroom Cards for Kids
So I hear Valentine’s Day in a kid’s classroom is a pretty big deal these days – and has gotten really complicated! It was a lot simpler when we were kids – you just went to the store, grabbed a box of Garfield cards, signed your name and gave them out.
Today, it’s all about class lists, non-candy cards, ones for boys, ones for girls, gender-neutral cards…enough to drive a mom crazy, right?!?
My boys aren’t quite 3 yet, but I don’t know if I’m looking forward to all this!
I might just be ‘that mom’ who buys the generic box cards from Target (and by the way, totally OK if you are ‘that mom,’ too!)
Definitely no need to add that kind of pressure on yourself – because who are we kidding? The stress is going to fall on you!
Valentine’s Day Card Hack: Creative & Easy Printables
BUT, if you have the time and energy to be creative, but maybe not the time or energy to do the creating yourself, here are 25+ classroom card ideas that are easy and clever.
And, there are lots of options – treats, non-candy, for boys, for girls. Just find the one that suits your child’s high maintenance classroom the best. 😉
All of them come with free printables, so just click, print and add your treat.
{And if you like to go more of the DIY route, here are 25 watercolor Valentine card ideas for all ages!}
I’m certainly not advocating the need for you to keep up with the rest of the class if that doesn’t suit your lifestyle or what you’re trying to teach your kids.
However, if you choose to go the creative, clever route, I definitely vote for getting your kids involved – even if it is a little more work for you. It teaches them that this is for THEIR classmates, from THEM, and THEY should be involved.
And it also teaches them they should help with tasks that they are able to help with! (Just my two cents’ worth).

The dinosaur, unicorn, and kitty ones are my favorite. I love how the candy is used as whiskers on the kitty. I bought Valentine cards from the store for my girls’ classmates.
Kate says
I think store-bought is totally great too! I wonder what I’ll do when my boys are bigger, but I am all for taking an easy approach!

This year we did he store cards, mini rice crispy treats, and a prize to go with it. For my daughter’s kindergarten class, we gave heart glasses. For the second daughter’s preschool class (she only had 6 other kids in her class), we gave mini cars for boys and fun scented erasers for girls from the Target dollar spot.
Kate says
How fun! I bet they loved giving them out! It’s amazing how many clever ideas moms come up with! 🙂

Katie loved getting her Valentine’s ready. She practically asked me every day to do it. The teacher took a picture of the whole classes with the heart glasses on. It was pretty cute.
Kate says
That is precious! So glad she had a great day! 🙂
