A Super Cute Way to Share God’s Love
Printable Valentine cards have always been one of my favorite ways for my boys to give out Valentines. But this year, I wanted to create something that reflected where love really comes from — not hearts and candy, but God Himself.
I originally designed these love bug Valentine cards for my Etsy shop, but the more I looked at them, the more I felt called to share them freely with my readers.
And I’m all about getting the Word of God out to as many people as I can, by whatever means. Those simple Bible verses on the cards… I’m praying they touch some kiddos’ hearts.
And you know me, lol – I had to come up with something cute to put with it! And these little love bug treats are adorable!
Trust me – it’s nothing complicated! It’s a super-cute, no-bake hack… but the results are honestly just so fun (sneak peak below!).
In this post, you’ll be able to take a closer look at the cards as well as see how I created these treats. Be sure read to the end and fill out the box at the end of the post to get the cards! (not the generic subscriber boxes that show up throughout the post!)
Ok, let me show you the cards first, then I’ll explain how I made the love bug treats!
Love Bug Free Printable Valentine Cards
Here are the set of 8 cards that I designed, along with bag toppers if you want to put them in a square Ziplock with treats!
There are 8 Bible verses that are included in this set:
“Let all you do be done in love.” – 1 Cor. 16:14
“Love never fails.” – 1 Cor. 13:8
“A friend loves at all times.” – Prov. 17:17
“Love is patient and kind.” – 1 Cor. 13:4
“The greatest is love.” – 1 Cor. 13:13
“God is love.” – 1 John 4:8
“Let us love one another.” – 1 John 4:7
“We love because He first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19
These sweet verses communicate simple but powerful truths about love that are wonderful for kids to share!
These cards themselves measure 3.75″ square and are perfect to attach to a treat or in a baggie! You can also use a bag topper if you go the baggie route.
These are also great to give out for school classroom Valentines or in Sunday School as well.
How to Make Adorable Love Bug Treats
Sometimes I can be really crafty and creative, and sometimes I just want a really easy hack.
If you want SUPER simple, especially if it’s last minute, I’m your girl!
OK, so for this, I picked up a few treats at Walmart – you know that big table in the front that usually has the seasonal goodies?
I picked up iced pink Valentine cookies, pink and red half moon iced cookies, and vanilla cake pops (with no sticks).
I simply added edible eyes to the treats and used white writing icing to add a small and antennas! I also had a big pouch of black icing, which was too big for the ladybug black dots, so I’d recommend a small black tube of writing icing.
Then I wrapped them in cellophane treat bags and added the card!

I think they came out so cute!!! There are a few tips that might help the process, though!
Tips for Creating Lovebug Treats
- Using a smaller/skinnier tube of colored writing icing yields better results! I used a larger pouch of black icing, and it was hard to control on something this small. You’ll see that any decorations that are in black are a little sloppier. See above! To be honest, I think white looked better anyway!
- Allow the treats to fully cool (I refrigerated mine overnight) before putting them in cellophane treat bags.
- If using the half-moon cookies, make your lady bugs with the pink on the bottom and the red on top. Also make sure to decorate them with the center line horizontally, not vertically, or they might look like aliens. 🤣 See below, lol.
- Use a very small dot of white icing to attach the eyes.
How to Gift Love Bug Treats
After they are all cooled, you can use a small square cellophane bag for the cake pops and half-moon cookies. The bags come with a nice gold twist-tie.
For the larger cookies, I used a square ziplock snack bag. You can cut the zip part off and tie it up with a string.
You can also use one of the printable bag toppers.
Below you can see if you just want to put in a few chocolates and not run with the whole love bug theme. That’s totally OK too! The important part is that you’re sharing God’s Word, which never returns void!
Here you can see the card written out by my son Michael for me. I was having a rough day, and he found my project on the counter and wrote me out a card and filled it with treats. This child has a heart of gold.
You can also use other fun Valentine treat containers like this heart Chinese food containers or these snack cups! Those are a sweet option if you want to give more than one treat or cookie to someone, like a neighbor or teacher!
If you’re serving them at a Valentine classroom party, you can use a cute Valentine paper tray as well!
These are a great choice for a last-minute hack!
