Avoid the Party Lull: Try Christmas Crafts for Grown-Up!
This past year, it’s really been on my heart to do a little bit more of hosting and practicing hospitality. But I’ll be totally honest with you – I still get butterflies and really wonder if everyone is going to have a good time.
And it’s no different for me if I’m planning a small get-together or a big party. Planning a Christmas party definitely brings on all the nerves because I’m always afraid of the dreaded lull where nobody knows what to do!
And that’s where Christmas crafts come in. I always think it’s a good idea to have a little something planned to keep your hands busy, especially if your guests are necessarily a tight group where the conversation can keep things rolling.
Christmas really is the perfect time to include a craft at your party – it’s actually a very natural fit and doesn’t feel forced or awkward at all.
Today, I’m sharing Christmas party crafts for adults – and because most are so simple, they even work if you have older kids who want to join in.
(Note: This post is geared toward the above scenario. If you’re looking for ideas specifically for a Christmas Craft Night Party, where the craft is the main focus of the get-together, take a look here! There’s some overlap, but each post was built specifically for each occasion!)

How to Set Up Your Craft
One of the first things to think about is how you want to offer the craft. You can go one of two ways:
The Organized Party Activity: Everyone sits down together at a set time, and you walk them through the craft. It’s more of a planned activity in the schedule for the night and everyone experiences it together. The benefit to this is that it brings the group together and can be a real memory-maker!
The Casual Craft Station: In this scenario, guests can wander over to throughout the night whenever they feel like it. There’s no set time, and really, the craft is offered as something optional if they want to participate.
Both are great options, but they’ll influence which craft you choose and how you prep for it.
If you’re going the station route, a little prep work on the front end will be needed. Having your materials sorted, labeled, and ready to go — along with a simple card with written instructions — means guests can jump right in without needing you to be there every second (doing this for scenario 1 can also be very helpful, too, though!).
This is also where you want to choose a very simple, self-explanatory Christmas craft that most guests could probably figure out just from looking at the sample.
And important! For either scenario, don’t forget the sample!
Either way, I’ve got lots of ideas for you. These Christmas party craft ideas are a lot of fun— no artistic experience required. And a lot of them are actually very cheap – using dollar store materials or thrifted or repurposed items!
Be sure to read past the end of the round up – I’ve got even more craft ideas (including a whole post dedicated to Christmas ORNAMENT crafts!) if you don’t find what you’re looking for!
