Christ-Centered Christmas Treats to Focus on Jesus
As I headed into the Christmas season this year, I was trying to be very intentional about creating gifts that would focus on Jesus. I created a ‘warm and cozy’ Christian Christmas wrapper and tags for warm gifts, but I really wanted to do a Christmas treat as well, since festive desserts are so popular this time of year.
Most Christmas treats are so fun to make and are wonderful ideas for gifts.
This past year, I’ve made chocolate-covered Oreos for just about every holiday — Easter, Mother’s Day, Teacher Appreciation, Father’s Day (baseball-themed!), the 4th of July, summer beach version, and a Thanksgiving turkey.
I knew early on that I wanted to make another Christmas Oreo treat this year—but this time, I really wanted something Christ-centered. A sweet, simple Christian Christmas Oreo gift idea that points to the true reason we celebrate.
If you love easy, no-bake desserts and you want a faith-based Christmas Oreo treat for kids, teachers, neighbors, coworkers, or even a class party, you’re going to love this one. It’s a very simple, very sweet, but absolutely meaningful Christ-centered Christmas Oreo pop that keeps the focus on Jesus while still being fun and festive.
This treat is inspired by the Star of Bethlehem. I say “inspired” because a single star felt a little too minimalist—even for me—so I added a few extra tiny stars to a few of them to keep it pretty while still making the message clear.

Materials for Oreo Pops

I got most of my materials at Walmart (except the stars and sugar sprinkles). I linked them up in case you want to just add them to your cart!
Almond bark (3 squares for 10 Oreo pops; 4 squares for a dozen +, etc. Roughly, 1 square = 3 pops)
Double Stuff Oreos (make sure it’s Double Stuff or Mega Stuff!)
Cellophane Pop Covers (Optional)

Instructions for Christ-Centered Oreo Pops
1| Melt the almond bark
Melt bark in microwave starting for 1 minute, using a microwave safe bowl. Then, stop and stir in 30 second increments, so it doesn’t burn. Often, if there are still chunks, you can stir it and it will melt, without needing to microwave again.
I found that 1 minute, 30 seconds was perfect for about 3-4 squares of almond bark.
2| Add sticks to Oreos
After bark is melted, add pop sticks to Oreos. Hold the Oreo firmly in your hand to keep the sides from separating. Insert stick in the cream of the Oreo, about 3/4 of the way through.
Generally, Double Stuff work best. However, I did use one batch of Double Stuff that cracked every time I put the stick in. I’ve made these several times, and that happened only once.
Mega Stuff can be a little heavy, but the idea is that you need more ‘stuff’ than just regular Oreos.
3| Coat Oreos with melted bark
Add a dollop of bark to the top of the Oreo and swirl it with a spoon to flatten.
Gently tap the stick on the side of the bowl so the excess chocolate will drip down the sides and create a flat surface.
Liberally add melted bark to the sides of the Oreo so the sides of the cookies are covered. Be sure to make sure the chocolate gets on the place where the stick meets the cream, to act as kind of a seal.
Gently tap again on the side of the bowl so the excess will drip off.
Flip the cookie over and repeat. Place cookie pops on silicone mat or parchment paper.
4| Decorate cookies
While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle the cookie with gold sanding sugar, gold shimmer dust – either/or – or any combo. You can vary it for each cooking!
Drop 1 or more stars to the center of the Oreo.
You can add more stars if you like – or just 1 star, with gold sugar sprinkled on. It’s totally up to you!
5| Allow cookies to harden
You can let the cookie pops lay on the countertop to dry – or put them in the fridge to speed things up.
Once they are dry, add the cellophane wrapper and gift or sell!
This is so easy, but I think the effect is just beautiful.
*You can also make these without pops, if you want. Instead of inserting a stick when coating the Oreo with chocolate, insert a paring knife and follow the same instructions as above.
To remove the cookie from the knife, hold a fork on its side so the side of the knife slides through a fork opening. Then, slide the fork down the knife to push the Oreo off to the parchment paper.

Really, you can add them to any gift to make it more Christ-centered, as it’s a very popular verse used for Christmas decor and cards.
The Bible verse is from Matthew 2:10:
“When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.”
Tags measure 1.8″ wide x 3.25″ inches long.

Star of Bethlehem Themed Oreo Pop
Ingredients
- Almond bark (3 squares for 10 Oreo pops; 4 squares for a dozen +, etc.)
- Double Stuff Oreos
- 6" Plastic treat sticks
- Gold Star Sprinkles
- Gold Sugar Sanding Sprinkles
- Parchment paper or silicon mat
- Cellophane pop covers (optional)
Instructions
- Melt almond bark in microwave for 60 seconds and stir. Continue to heat in 30 second increments until melted. Stir big chunks to avoid burning.
- Add sticks to center of Oreo, until about 3/4 way through.
- Spoon bark on top of Oreo and spread. Tap stick on bowl to let excess drip off. Repeat this on the side of the Oreo. Flip Oreo and repeat again. Place on parchment paper or a silicon mat.
- Sprinkle gold sanding sugar and gold shimmer dust on cookie. Then, place 1-4 stars in the center of the Oreo.
- Allow to dry - on counter, refrigerator, or freezer
- Wrap in cellophane covers if distributing! Tie on tags and give as gifts or sell!
