Easy & Tasty Baseball Themed Treat

This spring, I have been on a roll with these Oreo pops. I’ve made Easter pops as well as flower Oreo pops, which can be used for both Mother’s Day and Teacher Appreciation.

I was working on a few other baseball-themed projects for Father’s Day, and I thought, ‘Of course, there needs to be an Oreo pop version for baseball!’

And the idea was born!

Let me share how I created these pops, which make a wonderful gift idea for dads (and anyone) who loves baseball, but also are super cute for a baseball party, like an end of season celebration or a World Series party!

Materials for Baseball Oreo Pops

This post contains affiliate links. See Disclosures for more details.

I got most of my materials at Walmart. I linked them up in case you want to just add them to your cart!

Almond bark (3 squares for 10 Oreo pops; 4 squares for a dozen +, etc. Roughly, 1 square = 3 pops)

Double Stuff Oreos (make sure it’s Double Stuff!)

Small tube of red writing icing (not gel!)

6″ Plastic treat sticks

Cellophane pop covers

Red baker’s twine

Parchment paper

You can see in the picture below the materials I used. Please note – I did not use the edible markers; they did not work well with the almond bark, so I used writing icing entirely.

Instructions for Baseball Oreo Pops

1| Melt almond bark

Melt bark in microwave starting for 1 minute, using a microwave safe bowl. Then, stop and stir in 30 second increments, so it doesn’t burn. Often, if there are still chunks, you can stir it and it will melt, without needing to microwave again.

2| Add sticks to Oreos

While bark is melting, add pop sticks to Oreos. Hold the Oreo firmly in your hand to keep the sides from separating. Insert stick in the cream of the Oreo, about 3/4 of the way through.

Be sure to use Double Stuff Oreos so the cream is thick enough to hold the stick. I did use Mega Stuff one time, and they were a little heavy. I think Double Stuff works the best.

3| Coat Oreos with melted bark

Add a dollop of bark to the top of the Oreo and swirl it with a spoon to flatten.

Tap the stick on the side of the bowl so the excess chocolate will drip down the sides and create a flat surface.

tap oreo on side

Liberally add melted bark to the sides of the Oreo so the sides of the cookies are covered. Be sure to make sure the chocolate gets on the place where the stick meets the cream, to act as kind of a seal.

Tap again on the side of the bowl so the excess will drip off.

Finally, flip the cookie over and add a dollop of bark and swirl. Be sure to gently tap the stick on the side of the bowl so the excess chocolate drips off and create a flat surface on top.

4| Allow chocolate to harden if decorating with icing.

Place cookie pops on a piece of parchment paper on top of a baking sheet.

If using icing to decorate, allow it to air dry for a few hours. Or you can place them in the refrigerator or freezer to speed things up.

5| Decorate the cookies using writing icing.

Here, you are going to use the tube of red decorating icing (not gel!) to create the 2 main curved lines and the seams intersecting those lines.

Allow icing to harden. You can put in the refrigerator to speed things up, but if left out on the counter, they will eventually dry.

Below you can see my son trying to snatch one. 🤣

6| Add cellophane wrappers & decorative tags if gifting

There are 2 different tags for dads that you can get for free (just fill out the specific box for this printable at the END of the post – not one of the generic, floating subscriber boxes in the middle of the post).

There is a page of each version:

All Star Dad | Happy Father’s Day”

Proverbs 20:7: “The righteous man walks in integrity; blessed are his children after him.”

This also make a fun gift to give out at church to the dads on Father’s Day or at a Dad’s breakfast with the kids at a Christian school, Sunday School or homeschool.

The tags are 2″ round, which can be cut with a 2″ circle punch.

I also used a 2.5″ circle punch on red and blue construction paper and glued the tag on those to give them a little extra prominence.

These tags also coordinate with Avery 22612 round sticker labels, which you can also stick on larger circle punched cardstock or construction paper, or directly on the gift itself!

For best results, print on cardstock!

These pops can be used also as a treat at a baseball themed party like a Little League or travel club ball end-of-season celebration or for a World Series party – just eliminate the tags!

Serve in a jar filled with peanuts and wrapped with baker’s twine, for an extra festive touch!

These pops would also be a fun treat for a school bake sale or fundraiser, too!
