Valentine’s Day Brightness in the Dead of Winter
When I was still teaching, Valentine’s Day fell during some of the most intense weeks of the year. Decorating my house for Valentine’s Day was the farthest thing from my mind.
State exams and midterms had just ended, a new quarter had just started, and I was crawling on hands and knees to February Break.
However, now that I’m in my house all. day. long, it’s funny how making this space a place that brings me and my family joy and peace has become so important to me.
So today I’m sharing some gorgeous, budget-friendly Valentine’s Day DIY decorations.
Valentine’s Day Decorations for a Cozy Home for Family
I know that when we think about ‘home,’ it’s more than just the decor and the stuff we surround ourselves with. But I’m a big believer in creating a peaceful, inviting area where the important stuff can happen.
With my little guys, I know the time I spend with them is more significant than how clean it is (or more accurately, isn’t) or cute little burlap banners that I hang.
But at the same time, I want them to grow up with memories of knowing how important it was to their mom that they had a peaceful, cozy home – a place that they would want to come back to when they were older.
On the grand scale of eternal importance, I know Valentine’s Day DIY decor projects might not rank up there in the Top 10 (and let’s be honest, the Top 100 even).
But when it’s a means to creating special moments with my little guys and a home that my boys will love and have memories of, then it’s very important.
And, during this awful polar vortex winter, another indoor DIY project just might keep this mama from losing it.

These are all such awesome projects. In the pictures that have the framed gift bags, there is a square frame that has XOXO written in a single line (the “o’s” are hearts, it almost looks like it is hand written. Is this a gift bag or a printable or did you hand write it?? I love this- it is so simple and chic. I can’t find it in the projects. I would love to make one of these. If there are instructions, please let me know. I would appreciate it.
Thanks so much!!!
