Valentine’s Day Porch Decorating Coming Right Up
If you’re looking for a little something to fill the space after the Christmas decorations come down, Valentines Day is a perfect occasion to add some festive cheer!
After Christmas, it’s too soon for spring decor, so Valentine’s Day decorations are the perfect way to fill the gap.
I especially like to decorate the porch for a few reasons.
First, it’s the first thing people see when they arrive to your home. I love to have a pretty entryway to welcome them.
Second, you can decorate your porch and not feel like you have to commit to your whole house! It’s festive for a sweet special occasion, but you really don’t need to splash ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ everywhere if you don’t want to!
Third, it’s a concentrated area of real estate. A little decor goes a long way!
Outdoor Porch Decor for Valentine’s Day
It’s not hard to create a lovely setting for Valentine’s Day.
I like to try to have some kind of mental vision or feel of what I want for my outdoor Valentine’s decorations.
Do I want simple and minimalist? Colorful and whimsical? Elegant and classy?
Sometimes I stretch that further to a specific decor style, such as modern farmhouse, vintage rustic, or boho.
But sometimes Valentine’s decor doesn’t fall into neat style categories. And it doesn’t need to. It’s meant to be fun and festive, not something that makes you feel boxed in.
Regardless, I do try to do a little planning and at least identify the vibe I’m going for.
What to Include on Your Valentine Porch
Here are a few things you may want to include on your porch:
Door Decor
This can be a pretty wreath, a heart-shaped wreath or even wood round front door signs. You can even make your own DIY Valentine wreath!
A Banner or Bunting
You can hang a banner or bunting above your door or right at the entryway ridge of the house.
A Welcome Mat
There are super-cute welcome mats out there that are perfect for Valentine’s Day!
Pillows
If you have a porch swing or chairs on your porch, a cute pillow is super festive.
Signs
You can add signs to fill in small areas around planters. You can hang signs on the walls. You can also display a vertical porch sign, too!
Vintage Treasures
You can find amazing unique decor at thrift stores! It’s a great idea to scour your local thrift stores to see what finds you can scoop up!
Think outside of the box for items that are not specifically love-themed, but would work beautifully – such as wire bird cages or floral bouquets in pink and red.
Other Heart or Valentine-Themed Decor
There is no shortage of Valentine bling that you can add to your porch. You can often find inexpensive decor at craft stores, Big Lots and other similar places. It’s always fun to layer in some extra Valentine-themed decorative accents.
DIY Projects
Valentine DIYs are an inexpensive way to decorate. They are my favorite go-to, whether I’m decorating the porch, the living room, or any area in my home! It’s a great way to add character and a personal, unique touch.
You can even do it very cheaply using Dollar Tree materials!

This porch relies mostly on soft feminine touches! A bouquet of faux peonies, pink and floral pillows, a fun DIY heart hoop wreath, which coordinates with the wreaths on the window - and a sign that signals it's the season of love! Delicate and feminine! Oh my goodness! So many cozy farmhouse details here! Plaid blankets, wood hearts on shutters, lanterns... this is gorgeously staged for a beautiful rustic farmhouse themed porch! If you're lucky enough to have a porch swing, this little seating area is just gorgeous! Pink florals mixed with black and white buffalo check is a perfect combo! The hearts mixed in with the lantern, the books, and the tartan plaid boots add a pop of color. And don't miss that sweet 'Love You More' sign. This anonymous picture on Pinterest (if it's you, I'd love to give you credit!) is an absolute scroll stopper! The combination of pink and grey color scheme is soft and sweet as it is cozy! Love every detail of this one - the pillows, the door mat, the rail of hearts on the wall, the heart wreath... I adore it all. If you love a girly theme for a Valentine porch, this one is just perfect! The Eiffel Tower, the wire bird cage, the frilly XOXO and LOVE signs - it's everything you love about Valentine's Day! So fun and beautiful! Hearts say it all when it comes to the season of love! There are very simple heart touches - the banner above the door, the heart garland on the trees, and the HOME doormat. They all complement each other perfectly - and the black and white rug with the black and white door add to the dramatic effect! I love the airiness of this porch - the soft wreath of pom poms, the layered garlands above the door, and the hearts decorating the tree all add to a sweet and cozy entryway. The Valentine doorhanger grabs your attention right away and it has a wonderfully vintage feel to it! I love the marbled clay hearts hung from the trees along with the garlands above the doorway for a nostalgic vibe. Such a cheerful and bright Valentine porch! While the door color makes it easy, the rest of the details are equally gorgeous! Don't miss a sweet DIY yarn heart shaped wreath, a sweet welcoming banner, adorable red and pink hearts garland, a cute pillow and classic LOVE Valentine's Day porch sign! Lots of DIY Valentine's Day decor in this post - check it out! If you love to get your fill of hearts, let this one be your inspiration. Hearts everywhere! I love the mix of black buffalo plaid ribbon with the pops of red and pink! So festive! And be sure to check out the rest of the porch! So fun! The sweetness is in the simplicity of details! A fun DIY door hanger, pink tulips in rain boots, and sweet bows on the top of mini evergreen trees in white planters. Literally all you need. Flowers are the perfect transition to spring and thankfully, they work perfectly on a front porch for Valentine's Day! This porch has a gorgeous heart wreath combined with faux greenery and fresh roses in a galvanized bucket! Such a sweet cottagecore feel! With spring just around the corner, a garden themed Valentine porch is a gorgeous and classy option! The moss-covered double heart doorhanger is just so classy, and the flowers in the oversized flower pots make a statement all their own! Simple and oh so elegant! There are only a few touches of Valentine's Day - the XOXO banner, the bright red hearts, the fresh flowers in the galvanized bucket- but it is just perfect and elegant. How fun is this? If you like a touch of whimsy, this porch is styled perfectly! The heart hot- air balloons on the topiaries are just adorable! The red hearts above the door as welcoming and playful as well. This porch is a gorgeous example if you want to include some of your winter red decorations for Valentine's Day! The red berries in the planters are perfect accompaniments to red Valentine decor. This works extremely well if it's still winter in your neck of the woods, rather than leaning into spring flowers for Valentine's Day. If DIY projects are your thing, this porch is full of them! DIYs are a fantastic budget-friendly way to decorate! The rag garland, the heart trees, the heart branches, the hanging floating heart wreath, the floating hearts from the tree branch, and the LOVE decoupaged sign - all DIY! Lots are easy Dollar Tree crafts! If you like to add just a little touch of Valentine decor to your winter porch, this is how it's done! A hanging wooden heart from the porch light, hearts in the planters, and a LOVE sign - it's all you need to add Valentine touches to the front porch. If you lean more toward a rustic cabincore style, this porch is just wonderful! The heart banner held together with clothespins and the hearts tree toppers are adorable, and as you look closer, there are so many other bright and colorful Valentine handmade pieces!
