Are you looking to do a little summer refresh, starting with a new wreath for your front door? You don’t need to break the bank – it’s super easy to make one yourself! Keep reading to find the perfect DIY summer wreath that fits your decor style and gives off just the vibe you’re looking for!
Instant Curb Appeal: A Gorgeous Summer Wreath
I admit that I’m a little lazy sometimes with summer decor. It’s super easy to slide right into summer from spring, without changing things up too much. I mean, a flower is a flower, right?
And there’s nothing wrong with that. Some years, things are so busy, spring decor will have to hold us over through the fall.
However, I do love transitioning from spring to summer.
I’ve done lots of tropical greens and neutrals. Other years, I’ve added more bright colors and flowers.
Even if I can’t do the whole house, I usually try to spruce up the porch to signal the move from spring to summer.
And even if you can’t do much on the porch, a fresh summer wreath and some potted flowers are truly all you need!
And I’ve got some gorgeous summer wreath crafts to get you started!
Not All Summer Wreaths are Created Equal
I’m not saying they all aren’t gorgeous! But there are a lot of directions you can go in for a summer wreath.
Summer has a certain vibe – several, in fact, – and it’s good to know the feeling you want before you get started.
I’ve grouped different styles of wreaths in the roundup, and you can choose the vibe that fits you and your decor the best. And many of them can be customized just by flower choice and color.
Floral Summer Wreaths
These work amazingly well if you are more traditional or if you love a cottagecore or rustic farmhouse style.
If you like a fresh modern farmhouse style, you can use an embroidery hoop or wood bead wreath form instead of a typical grapevine or foam wreath form.
Using bright colors in a summer wreath can be helpful in distinguishing it from a spring wreath, which, in my opinion, uses more pastel colors.
Beach Themed Summer Wreaths
If you love coastal farmhouse or live in a beach area, you’ll find some great options! You can use sea glass, seashells, and driftwood to incorporate some beachy vibes!
Whimsical Summer Wreaths
These wreaths are different than a standard round floral wreath.
They might have unique containers such as baskets, watering cans, a summer hat, or rain boots. Or maybe they are a unique shape.
Or, they may include unique accents such as clay pots, succulents, bees, or butterflies.
Or, they may be made from unique materials, such as a bike wheel or plastic tablecloth!
Wreaths of this type may be more playful or whimsical – but summer is just the perfect time for that!
Red, White, and Blue Summer Wreaths
It is always OK to decorate with red, white, and blue for the summer! Beginning with Memorial Day, you can create a patriotic themed wreath and keep it out for 4th of July, all the way through Labor Day!
You’ll find lots of fun options for wreaths in red, white, and blue including straws, ribbons, and fabric. These DIY summer wreaths will work great if you have Americana themed home decor for the summer.
