If you’re a mom looking to work from home, find a creative outlet, and maybe reinvent yourself, I have something you should consider. Selling printables in an Etsy shop is a surprisingly profitable business – I’d like to share my experience and how Gold City Ventures helped me along the way.

The Stay-at-Home Mom Job Dilemma
Before I had kids, I was a hard-working single woman in a career I loved (I was a high school English teacher for 14 years).
However, I always wanted to get married and have a family. And I always knew I wanted to be able to stay home with my kids before they went to school (more on that story later).
To that end, when my twin sons were 2 years old, I started a blog. That took a few years to get off the ground, but it slowly started to make money.
If you have any experience in the blogging world, you know that it can be very unpredictable. Often, you’re dependent on Google and Pinterest, which can be a bit bi-polar in their preferences.
It was always encouraged to have various streams of income, and if possible, sell a product.
I was (and am) a lifestyle blogger, sharing all the homemaking things… but I didn’t really have a product to sell.
Well, I did create free printables on my blog that I would offer to subscribers for free. Maybe I could sell those?
But would anyone actually pay money for them, though?
Enter My Etsy Shop for Printables
In the fall of 2020, I decided to give it a go. No training, no real strategy.
I joined a few Facebook groups, but that was really it.
To be honest, I didn’t give my shop my full attention as my time was more invested in my blog, which was more lucrative.
But the Etsy shop sales kept creeping in.
My shop has been open for about a year and a half, and I just passed 2,000 sales.
While I’m really proud of that number, there are a few things I would have done differently, right from the start.
Take Gold City Ventures e-printables course is one of them.
If you have any interest in selling printables (which I think is a really good idea – and I’ll explain why), this is the course you want to take.
Before I get to that, let me tell you why I think creating printables is such a great job idea for a stay-at-home mom.
Work Smarter, Not Harder: Why Selling Printables is Such a Smart Idea
As I said, when I started creating and selling printables, I was pretty much self-taught.
Prior to this, my conversion rate for getting sign-ups for my freebies on my blog was pretty good, but I still wondered if people would pay for them.
I had dabbled with the idea of an Etsy shop, but printables became a clear winner for a side hustle for 2 very good reasons.
1. Printables do not require start-up costs or overhead for supplies.
Since everything is digital, you do not need to purchase materials, charge for shipping, or spend time physically creating, packaging, and mailing out.
Not only does it save time, but there is very, very little start-up cost.
2. Printables can be a strong source of passive income.
Let me clarify. By passive, I do not mean that you start your shop, leave it alone, and it will make money for you.
No. You always need to be creating and tweaking and working on your shop.
But it’s passive in the sense that it runs itself.
You can be asleep, and sales can come in. You can be on vacation with your family or take time for personal issues, and sales can still come in.
And you don’t need to be create something new or ‘restock’ after someone makes a purchase.
The same file can be sold and downloaded over and over and OVER again.
I worked really hard on my shop the first year to cycle through every season. I didn’t do a whole lot the second year.
But it still made money. Not a ton of money, but it was profiting passively.
3. Designing and selling printable is a skill anyone can learn to do, even without graphic design background.
There is definitely a learning curve to it – and it’s not making millions overnight, but I found it ideal as a secondary work from home job.
Learning to design and create printables is a skill that takes a little work, but it’s not rocket science. You don’t need to be a natural artist to create printables that sell.
And actually, there are many types of printables that appeal to the logical, left-brain designers as well as customers!
Why Gold City Ventures is a Game-Changer for Selling E-Printables
Gold City Ventures reached out to me to review their course, and at first, I was a little hesitant.
My shop had been open for about 2 years at this point, and in my eyes, it was successful.
Would this course teach me anything that I hadn’t figured out already?
Short answer: Yes.
Let me explain a little for a long answer, and why I think this course is worth the money.

Whether you’re toying with the idea of starting an Etsy shop, a rookie in the early stages, or have been doing this a while, you can definitely learn from this course because they cover everything. I mean everything.

Do you see what I mean about exhaustive? And, there are numerous session each topic.
I also appreciated that it used both a mix of video and text resources.
The videos weren’t too long (I think the longest one was about 20 minutes), so you can watch them here and there mixed in your schedule.
So, that’s the main course, but that’s not all GCV offers. There is also the VIP Membership Vault.

PLR, if you’re unfamiliar, stands for ‘Private Label Rights’ and allows you to legally use content created by someone else and make it your own. You can edit it, customize it, put your personal spin on it, and sell it as part of your own brand.

What You Should Know Before Purchasing Gold City Ventures
1| First, you should know the cost upfront.
While I don’t think this is necessarily a deterrent, it’s always one of my first questions:
How much?
I’ll say up front – there is a bit of an investment. The cost for the course is $197, which is only open at certain times of the year. (Right now – March 23-30, 2026 – GCV is open!!!) You can also pay in 5 payments of $49 (save $50 if you pay-in-full).
Like I said, it’s not a negative because you truly get so much instruction from start to finish.
But you should know the financial investment.
Some say you might be able to find a lot of this (although I’d argue not all of it) on YouTube or something like that.
There were always similar arguments to blogging courses, too.
But, to have ALL of this information, at your fingertips, organized and laid out in a logical order, is a huge, huge asset and time saver.
It would take you soooo much longer to dig up all of this information on your own.
Plus, you don’t know what you don’t know – and you don’t know what you need to know.
Thankfully, Gold City Ventures does, and they put it all in one place.
2| Second, since the course is exhaustive, there is a LOT of material to go through.
Now, you don’t need to go through the entire course before opening your shop, but it will probably take you some time to get through everything.
If you aren’t something of a self-motivated person, or if you give up on things quickly after you start them, this might not pay off for you.
So you should know yourself pretty well and think through if this venture is something you really will see through.
3| Third, making money on Etsy takes time, so this is not a get-rich-quick solution.
An Etsy shop is a long game. Not just in terms of creating products and getting them up for sale, but also in how Etsy views your shop.
It takes a while for Etsy to know your shop, what you sell, and to prioritize your listings.
So, similar to blogging, you need to frontload a lot of the work before it pays off.
If you need hard cash STAT, creating printables to sell might not be the best fit.
But if you’re willing to put in the time to learn, revise, pivot, and see the thing through, you can build a very lucrative business.
I’ve already implemented many of the things I’m learning (full disclosure: I’m still working my way through the mountain of materials), and I’ve seen noticeable bumps in my sales.
Ideally, my goal is to get my Etsy revenue to where it meets my contribution to our family budget. I totally believe that will happen once I utilize all I’ve learned and will learn in this course.
My plan is to invest time in finishing the course this summer since we are on our homeschool break. And I’ll update once I’m done.
(Did I mention I homeschool now? So yeah, the original plan to make money til my sons were in school is no more. They are with me 100% of the time).
Final Thoughts on Selling Printables as a Work-from-Home Job for Mom
As with any job, there really is no ‘cake’ job. Everything requires some work.
But if you like to be creative, don’t mind doing some research, learning, and strategizing, and are ready to put in some college effort, I think selling printable is a great option for stay-at-home moms.
Especially if you have the luxury of not needing cash immediately.
I also love this field of ‘digital content creation’ because you really can start it immediately, with very little out-of -pocket cost, and fit it into your schedule in a way that works for you.
When I started creating my blog and printables, I did everything while my sons, who were babies at the time, napped and after they went to bed.
When they were in preschool, kindergarten, and 1st grade, I did it when they were in school.
Now that I’m homeschooling, I work it in in between our lessons, co-ops, or when they have their screen time.
So, no matter what stage of life you’re in – I’ve been in many different ones – digital content creation and selling printables is a fantastic option, if you’re patient and willing to put in the work.

I’m not a mom and would venture to say that this is not just for moms? I’ve always thought about selling printables on Etsy. I love making my own through Canva and the idea to try to do it has crossed my mind quite a bit throughout the years. I’ll check out the course.

Since the primary audience of my blog is typically moms, a lot of my articles will have that tag in there, but you’re 100% right – designing printables can be for anyone – moms, dads, single, elderly, twenty-somethings… there’s a space for everyone!
