As we’re wrapping things up for the summer and looking ahead to the new school year, staying organized can make all the difference.

It doesn’t matter if you have one child or several children – there’s always a lot going on. Juggling school supplies, sports schedules, or simply trying to create calm in the middle of craziness can feel like a full-time job.

And that’s exactly why I created this free printable Back to School Family Planner. It has everything you need to start the year off right.

My goal designing this is to help families stay on track, reduce stress, and create meaningful routines—all in one place! 

 

School is a necessity, whatever way you do it – homeschool, public school, private school – but time together as a family is a priority. We shouldn’t let anything steal that time – and staying organized can maximize the time we do get to spend together.

Everyone wants the first day to be memorable—not stressful! This checklist includes everything you need to prep the night before and the morning of, from packing lunches and laying out clothes to making sure you don’t miss those adorable first-day photos.

 

Back to School Shopping List

Keep track of school supplies, clothing needs, and classroom requests with this clean, simple shopping list. Organized by category, it helps you check off items efficiently without forgetting the little things. 

Feel free to make a copy for each child in the house, if that helps!

Sports & Extracurriculars Info

This sheet is a place to jot down activities, practice times, and contact info all in one place. This will help you manage multiple schedules and keep everyone’s after-school commitments straight.

Daily Routines

Routines are KEY for a smooth household. This sheet allows each child to have a place to write down their morning, after-school, and evening routines.

It covers the whole week, including weekends, with a simple checklist visual to keep track. This page sets the tone for a peaceful atmosphere with customizable daily routines.

Not only does it establish consistency, but it helps your kids know what to expect – and what’s expected of them –  throughout the day.

Weekly Meal Planner

This one is to help mom get organized! Evenings run much smoother when you’re not scrambling last minute wondering what to make for dinner.

Yearly Goals

This page will encourage your kids (and yourself!) to set simple, achievable goals for the year—academic, spiritual, personal, or physical. A great tool for reflection and motivation as the year progresses.

It’s broken down by month, so you can add to it as the year goes on. You can use this for each individual in the family or one sheet for the whole group or for family goals.

Important Dates

Never forget a picture day, field trip, or early dismissal again! Use this page to record school events, holidays, and deadlines all in one place for easy reference.

I like this page in addition to a monthly calendar because it allows you to see at a glance upcoming events and dates without flipping through pages.

Again, you can use a page like this for each individual child to keep their events coordinated.

Celebrations & Wins

Capture the big and small victories throughout the year—like good grades, kind acts, finished projects – or achieving those goals! This space is perfect for encouraging a gratitude mindset and celebrating progress.

It’s also a great way to look back at the end of the year to see how far each child has come and what he or she has accomplished!

Back to School Bucket List

Make the most of the school year with a bucket list of fun, seasonal, or educational goals. You can just a bucket list like this to create both family traditions and new experiences you want to try!

Year-at-a-Glance School Calendar (2025–26)

Plan ahead with a clean overview of the entire school year. This is a great place to highlight breaks, testing weeks, vacations, and key events with this quick-glance calendar.

You can even color-code it for each child.

**Federal holidays have a little circle around them, for quick reference!

Motivational Poster

Print and hang this simple, encouraging poster to inspire your family daily. It’s a great reminder of your family’s values and the positive mindset you want them to carry into the new schoolyear.

A family command center in your home is a great way to hang all of these pages up for everyone to see. I generally like hanging them rather than having them in a binder, so they are in front of my face at all times.
