Why Gratitude Crafts for Kids Are the Perfect Thanksgiving Activity

Gratitude can be one of the hardest things to teach our kids. In a world that screams, ‘I need more!’, teaching kids to be thankful for what they already have feels like an uphill climb sometimes.

But it’s a climb we need to make! The world does not need any more entitled kids growing up thinking they are owed something! It does need more kids who realized how blessed they are and know where those blessings come from – God!

I love that Thanksgiving is a national holiday (though often overshadowed by Christmas) that gives me a built-in excuse to slow down and talk about gratitude with my sons.

Sometimes it’s an ‘I’m Thankful for’ chart on the wall or a gratitude pumpkin…but it’s a primary topic of conversation each November. And in the early years, it was just a simple Thanksgiving craft tied to Scripture, like the ones I’m sharing today.

These projects take a big idea like gratitude and bring it down to their level, into something their little hands can create.

This roundup is packed with simple ideas that actually have some depth and meaning for whatever stage your little one is at. These ideas work for Sunday School, daycare, preschool, homeschool – or just around your table. There are suitable project for babies, toddlers up to elementary age (and older) kids.

Just about all of them have a Bible verse associated with it – and it’s easy to add one or two if there isn’t one already there.

OK, let’s teach our kids about gratitude!
