Encouragement Cards & Faith Notes to Use All Year

I was a high school English teacher for 14 years and a youth leader for 10 years. Those years were some of my favorites and for sure, teens are my favorite age group to work with.

I know firsthand the struggles they go through and how it’s such a tumultuous time in their lives.

And a word of encouragement (and TRUTH!) from a stable adult in their world goes such a long way.

There is such power in a simple note of encouragement for teens in a busy, stressful world.

Giving tweens and teens Scripture-based encouragement matters so much! It strengthens their faith, affirms their identity in Christ, and reminds them they’re loved.

Alongside prayer (& you can download these Scripture based prayer cards for kids!), this is one of the most important things you can do for your teen.

Today I’m offering a free printable set of cards just like this for those reasons. These cards have been designed with teens in mind.

What Are Christian Lunch Notes?

Very simply, these are small, encouraging cards with faith-based affirmations and Bible verses to go along with them.

You might have heard them called by other names: encouragement cards, faith notes, Bible verse cards, affirmation notes.

These cards are especially meaningful in the teen years, when teens tend to isolate and feel a little lost in who they are.

Giving them cards like these is an unobtrusive way to show them you are standing with them, even if it feels like from a distance.

Creative Ways to Use Encouragement Cards (Beyond Lunch Boxes)

You don’t just need to put these cards in lunch bags! Here are other ways you can use them!

  • Backpacks – tucked in a pocket before school.
  • Textbooks or notebooks – hidden between pages for mid-class encouragement.
  • Clothes drawers – a reminder at home while they’re getting dressed in the morning.
  • Bathroom mirror or dresser – affirmation for the morning routine.
  • Devotion time – use for morning devotions or after-school encouragement
  • Youth group / Sunday School – leaders can hand them out for group encouragement.
  • Care packages – add them to birthday, camp, or college prep boxes for older teens

Why Teens Need Scripture-Based Encouragement

Teens face a ton of pressure, doubt, and insecurity. They desperately want encouragement and someone to believe in them – but it’s hard for them to verbalize that. And sometimes, they aren’t even aware that that is exactly what they need.

Cards like these are powerful because:

  • God’s Word will speak directly to them for encouragement, strength, courage, and being chosen/loved.
  • Notes serve as daily reminders of truth when the world speaks lies.
  • Both boys and girls need encouragement, and these cards can be used with either gender. All kids need to hear:
    • “You are chosen.” (Ephesians 1:4)
    • “Be strong and courageous.” (Joshua 1:9)
    • “God’s plans for you are good.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
