30 Precious DIY Christmas Gifts for Grandma the Kids Can Make
Christmas is the perfect time for the grandkids to shower Grandma with a little extra love! These DIY Christmas gifts for Grandma are heartfelt, homemade keepsakes the kids can make themselves—sweet little treasures she’ll adore pulling out and remembering year after year.
The Oh-So-Important Role of Grandma in a Child’s Life
As a young kid, I was really fortunate to have both grandmas in my life, both living close by.
As I got older, one set of grandparents moved to Florida (as most New Yorkers do), and the other set passed away when I was in my twenties. But I’m so grateful I had them in my life growing up.
When the twins were babies, both sets of grandparents live out of state. We were so adamant about our boys growing up around family that we actually moved to Tennessee to be near at least one set of grandparents. And today, we actually have both sets with us here.
During the Christmas season, we feel it even more how special those grandparents are.
Homemade Christmas Gifts for Grandma from the Kids
At Christmas, homemade gifts are such a sweet way for the grandkids to show Grandma just how much she means. Not that we take anything away from Grandpa, but we all know, it’s the grandmas who hang onto these sweet gifts.
Grandmas will absolutely treasure anything that comes from their grandbabies (my boys once made my mother-in-law a Christmas ornament that was just all scribbles, and she adored it — she still hangs it every year!).
I especially wanted these DIY Christmas gifts to be for grandmothers, for two reasons.
1| Grandmas are so special in a child’s life — a handmade Christmas gift from a grandchild is truly meaningful, and it becomes a keepsake she pulls out every December.
2| These are the kinds of gifts that don’t cost much but mean a ton. A little paint, a little glue, a thumbprint or a photo — and you’ve made something Grandma will hold onto for years.
There are lots of skill levels here — from the littlest ones right up to the older kids. But for sure, Grandma (Nana, Nanny, Gigi…) will adore whatever the grandkids make her this Christmas.
And moms, I really do hope it’s a little bit fun in the process. If so, that’s their gift to you. 🙂
OK, on to Grandma’s Christmas gifts!
