Christ-Centered Easter Decorating? Challenge Accepted

I don’t think I ever realized before this year just how hard it is to decorate for Easter while keeping it focused on Jesus.

I always have a few items I put up that point to the Resurrection, but this year, I just didn’t want to do any of the normal bunnies or chicks decor.

I went to lots of stores – and let me tell you – it was slim-pickings just about everywhere.

Hobby Lobby would probably be the store with the biggest selection of Christ-centered decor. Kirkland’s also had some as well. Walmart had a few things, too – but in just about every other store – it was 1 or 2 items, or zero.

I realized that if I was going to have Christ-centered decorations, I’d probably have to do them myself.

So today, I want to share a few ways I added Christ-centered Easter decor to my house. I’m going to also throw in a few ways I’ve done it in past years, just for extra inspiration.

DIY Hosanna Free Printable Bunting

This is a pretty, vintage inspired bunting I made. I chose ‘Hosanna’ for this project because almost all of the other decor I found says, ‘He is Risen.’ Below you can see the details a little more closely.

At the end of this post, you can grab this bunting for free – just fill out the specific box for the bunting at the END of the post (not one of the subscribe boxes you see floating around through the middle).

I also included a version that says, ‘He is Risen,’ because I know a lot of people like  to display that phrase, too!

To assemble this bunting, just print on cardstock, cut out, and hole punch (faint white hole punch circles on each letter). Each letter measures approximately 4.5″ x 6.25″. I also included some panels without letters if you wanted to add them to the ends.

Then, just weave ribbon of your choice through the letters (I liked having the ribbon show through on the front) and hang on your mantel!

And if you’re giving out candy for the little kids – or big kids, you can also grab these He is Risen’ chocolate bar wraps in the same pattern!  There are options for the full size 1.55 oz Hershey bar or the smaller .45 oz. snack size!

Painted Cross Canvas

This is a piece of pretty wall art I picked up from Hobby Lobby. It was neutral enough to fit with my mantel, but it was still very pretty! It was $11.99, plus 40% off – so very inexpensive.

This is a great option if you don’t want too many pieces of decor with words.

DIY Easter Centerpiece

This is something new I made this year for my Easter table. I really wanted to keep it all Christ-centered.

This was made from Dollar Tree crates, which I decoupaged pretty floral napkins (Home Goods | TJ Maxx has the best selections of napkins, in my opinion!) over the outside.

The wording is just created from a simple document in Canva printed on a thinner, Japanese rice paper. I tore out the phrase rather than cut it out, for a more distressed and interesting look.

DIY Flower Bouquet Tags

I think fresh flowers are often just enough Easter decor.

For this little project, I just printed out these round Christ-centered Easter tags I made.

I’ve gotten a lot of mileage out of these tags and have used them for all sorts of things – as labels on cookie gifts, cupcake toppers, gift tags… but I love how they look tied to a mason jar with fresh tulips.

You can get them for free in this post – or they are in the free library if you’re already a subscriber!

Easter Table Place Settings

I created Christ-centered place settings in a few ways.

First, I used Christian paper plates and napkins at each table setting.

I also set some up at the end of the table for a more buffet style dinner.

In another version of Christian Easter place settings, I put a cross cookie favor on top of each plate, with He is Risen themed sticker labels.

That way, at each individual place setting, there is a sentiment acknowledging the reason we celebrate – Jesus’ resurrection.

RISEN Egg

This is an egg I purchased at Hobby Lobby last year, and thankfully, a lot of their seasonal decor circles around. I saw this one there again this season!

Here’s another way I used this ceramic egg decor in year’s past – as part of a table centerpiece tray.

He is Risen Sign

This is a sign I got a few years ago at Hobby Lobby, but like the Risen egg, this one is still available in the store! This one I placed out on my porch.

God So Loved the World Sign

I saw this sign at Walmart this season! It was in the Easter section, and while it’s not specifically an Easter sign, it definitely carries the ‘why’ behind the resurrection. I put this one out on my porch.

DIY Resurrection Garden Planter

I’ve done smaller Resurrection Gardens with groups of students at our homeschool co-ops, but I loved having a large-scale Resurrection garden planter version that shouts He is Risen, right in front of the house.

DIY Easter Wreaths

This year, I made 2 different Christ-centered Easter wreaths. Below you can see the first one.

Rustic cross wall decor with olive branch wreath, white ribbon accent, and hanging wood elements, perfect for farmhouse or boho holiday home Christmas wreath decorations.

This Christian Easter wreath one is obviously faith-based, in that it has the cross front and center. I was trying to make something that was neutral in color and more classy than cutesy.

This other minimalist neutral wreath is more of a ‘subtle’ Easter wreath.

The materials used- the olive branches, the linen ribbon, the flowers (anemones – which are native to Israel) – are symbolic references to the Easter story.

This is one I plan to keep up all season long through the summer, and I love that it is somewhat neutral to display even after Easter.

Easter Porch Basket

This is a sweet white wire basket that I put together for Christ-centered porch decor. I grabbed stray branches from my yard and created 3 crosses, tied together with raffia string. The center cross stands the tallest, for obvious reasons.

Then, I filled the basket with neutral-colored confetti fill and these pretty floral wooden eggs.

Remember how I said I got a lot of mileage out of those tags? They show up here again!

Free Printable Wall Art

Framed wall art is one of my favorite ways to display Christ-centered Easter decorations. We are in the middle of some renovations right now so I’m a little lacking in places to put wall art, but here are a few framed pieces I designed that I displayed a few years ago.

These Easter wall art printables are in the free library if you’re a subscriber (To subscribe, just sign up in any box on the site, and you’ll be sent a welcome email the password!  There’s a box at the end of this post as well!).

The ones in the free library are all 8×10″ PDF. If you’d like them in a variety of sizes, in JPG as well as PDF, they are in my Etsy shop as well!

Best Place to Find Christian Easter Decor

While it’s pretty hard to find Christ-centered Easter decor in a brick-and-mortar store, Etsy will not let you down.

Let me share a few of my Etsy favorites with you.

Easter Creche

May include: A wooden, half-circle sculpture depicting a scene from the Bible. The sculpture is made of light brown wood and features a carved image of a woman standing in front of a stone tomb. The tomb has a stone door with the word 'Christ' carved above it. A tree is to the right of the tomb. The sculpture is mounted on a wooden base with the words 'He is Risen' carved into the base.

I love this 3D display for Easter! The rock slides away, too! This is lovely.

Laser Engraved Wooden Eggs

May include: Wooden Easter eggs with various religious and Easter-themed messages, including 'He is Risen', 'Happy Easter', 'Jesus Loves Me', 'No Bunny Loves Me Like Jesus', 'Pray Wait Trust', and 'Hoppy Easter'.

How amazing would it be to have these eggs in a decorative basket! I just love them!

He is Risen Door Hanger

May include: A white round wooden door hanger with three brown wooden crosses and the words 'He is Risen' in black cursive script. The crosses are on a brown hill and there is a burlap and black striped bow with green foliage on top.

This one certainly makes a statement! Say it louder for the people in the back!

Wooden Resurrection Scene

May include: Wooden figurines of three women and an angel standing in front of a wooden tomb with a cross on top. The tomb is made of three pieces of wood, each painted in a different shade of blue. The women are painted in shades of blue and brown. The angel is painted in shades of blue and gold. The figurines are on a wooden surface.

How sweet is this! What a beautiful reminder of the empty tomb!

I hope you’ll go support some of these small business owners and grab some of these beautiful Christ-centered Easter decorations!

    1. Hi Christina! I just used a regular hand-held cheap hole punch – just like the one you get at Dollar Tree or Walmart!
