A Sweet (and Frugal) Gift Idea for Moms: Printable Bookmarks
Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and now that I’m a mom of twin boys, I appreciate my mom on a whole different level now!
I love creating gift ideas for moms, as just a little something to say thank you.
My mom was an avid reader, and I love to read myself (former English teacher here!) – so I thought bookmarks would be a wonderful printable idea.
These cute bookmarks have 3 different sayings on them, all highlighting how special motherhood truly is. It’s the perfect gift to give out in ladies small group or in church on Mother’s Day morning!
These are FREE printable bookmarks (though if you want a more design options, you can check out this inexpensive set with 6 different designs in my Etsy shop!), and I hope you love them as much as I do.
Meaningful Mother’s Day Quotes
As I mentioned, I was a high school English teacher in my pre-kid life, so I’ve always been a sucker for a good quote.
One is a Bible verse, and the other two are quotes, but I felt they all highlighted the power of motherhood.
Here are the quotes I used for the bookmarks:
“There is more power in a mother’s hand than in a king’s scepter.” – Billy Sunday
Moms have such an important role in shaping the minds and hearts of their children! In doing so, we are truly shaping the future and changing the world! That’s powerful!
“There is no role in life that is more essential than that of motherhood.” – M. Russell Ballard
I’ve said this many times to others: as much as I loved my career as a teacher, without a doubt, my most important life’s work is raising my sons.
Sure, it’s filled with lots of mundane tasks, and it sometimes feels a little mind-numbing… but what a gift we’ve been given to steward and disciple these young lives.
Think about a world where there weren’t moms to shape and influence their kids. What a critical role we have!
It’s an honor, for sure.
And lastly….
“Her children rise up & call her blessed.” – Prov. 31:28
If, one day, my children look at me and see me filled with joy over my role as a mom and the joy they’ve brought me, that will truly be the biggest blessing. (You can also get this Bible verse for moms as print in my Etsy shop!)
It truly is such a wonderful gift to be a mom. I struggled with miscarriages and infertility for several years, and I ached to be a mother.
I wasn’t sure I would ever be one. But oh my. What a gift God has graciously given me in my sons! Truly, truly blessed.
Every single woman who is a mother is blessed beyond measure.

Tips for Best Results

I feel like printables are so popular these days that most people know the basics, but I always feel like I should include a few tips!
1| Use white cardstock.
There are different weights of cardstock you can get. The generic version you can buy in Walmart or on Amazon will work just fine.
However, if you want something a little sturdier, you can purchase cardstock with a heavier weight (350 gsm/130 lb. weight).
If using a heavier weight, be sure to check and adjust your printer setups.
And don’t forget to select to print to ‘actual size’ to get the right dimensions! You can even experiment with various neutral shades or colored paper to see which results you like best!
2| Use a paper trimmer.
You certainly can cut these Mother’s Day bookmarks with scissors. However, I like to use a small paper cutter like this to get the straightest lines!
They are inexpensive, and I use mine all the time!
3| Add a little bling.
These bookmarks are designed to be print-and-go, but if you want a little extra, you can add a tassel, beads, or decorative charms to the top!
Just hole punch the top of the bookmark and thread through some thin jute twine, raffia, or ribbon.
4| Laminate if desired.
I’ve made several bookmarks in the past and have had accidents with spilled coffee or water bottles that sweat. Printer ink is not permanent, so laminating can extend its life a little bit longer!
You can purchase a small laminator fairly cheaply if you don’t have one, and you can use it for future projects.
If you don’t have a laminator, no fear! You can also use clear adhesive laminating sheets.
And, I’ve also laminated using packaging tape in a pinch, too!
