Patriotic Red, White and Blue Graham Cracker Frozen Treat
Are you looking for a patriotic Memorial Day or 4th of July treat? That’s Weight Watchers friendly and not a million calories? And easy? This red, white, and blue graham cracker frozen treat checks off all the boxes! Keep reading to learn how!
The Perfect Red, White, and Blue Patriotic Treat
This dessert today is a throw-back to my 80s childhood. I grew up in a house where my mom liked soap operas, talked on the phone (with the cord attached to the wall), and was a sporadic – and regular – member of Weight Watchers. It’s funny what your brain remembers about being a kid, but this graham cracker frozen treat is something that sticks out to me.
While the point values in Weight Watchers have changed so many times, I remember this easy, 2-ingredient treat (well, 3 ingredients for this patriotic recipe) as a low-point wonder. I can still see my mom slapping Cool Whip between 2 chocolate graham crackers and just setting them inside the freezer (Right on the freezer shelf. No container. No wrapping. That’s it. Just right on the shelf.).
When you grow up in a house when diets are a constant on-again-off-again thing, your mind automatically goes to low-fat, skinny knock-offs of some favorite treats. To that end, I put together a whole list of healthy, easy summer desserts, but today is one of those days where I was looking for a specifically patriotic, Memorial Day/4th of July treat that was easy, low in calories, and one that the kids could eat easily, too.

{By the way, if you’re not worried about Weight Watchers or calories, here are 30+ Patriotic Red White and Blue Desserts you can try, too! Easy and no-bake!)
As I’m officially on the ‘Lose 1 lb. a Week until 2020″ (my own plan – I made it up- but by Jan 1, if all goes well, I’ll be down 33 lb – so, hey!), I’m looking for skinny treats. I’m not saying this is the cleanest treat (although you could go organic and it would really be healthy-ish), but it’s low calorie and just enough to satisfy the sweet tooth. And if you’re on Weight Watchers, it’s something you can serve or bring to the Memorial Day or 4th of July BBQs and still stay on your plan.
This is such an easy recipe that it’s almost a little embarrassing to post it as a recipe. Basically, it’s Cool Whip between 2 graham crackers, dipped in red, white, and blue sprinkles.
It’s that easy to explain and that easy to make. But for the sake of being Pinterestingly correct, I’ll spell out how I made them.
When my 4-year old son saw the sprinkles laid out, he said, “Stars and stripes!” I didn’t even notice that, but for his sweet sake, in our house, they’ll be fondly known as “Stars and Stripes Sandwiches.” He also lovingly refers to them as “American Sandwiches.” Precious.
Other Frozen Graham Cracker Sandwich Options
I’m sure you’ve picked up on the fact that it’s just the sprinkles that make this a patriotic treat. Obviously you can customize the sprinkles for any holiday – Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, Easter…. for baby showers, kid parties…whatever sprinkles you love.
You can also use other toppings on the side: nuts, coconut, cookie crumbles, mini M&Ms, chocolate chips….all of those would amazing ways to make this treat that goes beyond Memorial Day or 4th of July.

7| Placed finished sandwich on cookie sheet.

See? So easy! If you’re following Weight Watchers, it’s 4 points (100 calories) for 1 of these sandwiches. (And if you need to know, it’s 3.5g fat, 17g carbs, 7g sugar, .5g fiber, 1g protein)
Since this is such an easy recipe, I’ll give a few pointers and other variations to try.

Pro-Tips for Graham Cracker Sandwiches
- I felt like using 2 tablespoons was too little, but a 1/4 cup was too much. The recipe is for 2 tablespoons, but if you aren’t counting points, I would just wing it to the amount you prefer.
- I also tried this recipe with RediWhip from a can. It made the process a little cleaner, and the sandwich was a little firmer, which I liked. The whipped cream didn’t squoosh out as much.
- Sprinkles can get soggy after you do a few sandwiches, so use a little at a time on the plate and replenish as needed.
- If you wanted to cut down serving size, calories or just make mini-desserts, break the square in half and serve bite-sized sandwiches. Those would be cute treats for little ones, or even for us big ones, who just want a little bite-sized goodie. Sometimes, even though it’s still the same amount, my brain computes that I’m eating a little more when it’s 2 small sandwiches instead of one.
Variations for Red, White and Blue Frozen Treats
There are LOTS of variation on this skinny Chipwich (that’s what I like to think of it as, but really, nothing comes close to the Chipwich). Here are a few you can try (some skinny, some not!):
FOR THE SANDWICH:
Chocolate Graham Crackers
Honey Graham Crackers
Chocolate chip cookies (or any cookie – Fudge Stripe, Sugar Cookie, etc.)
FOR THE FILLING:
Light Cool Whip
Redi-Whip
Light Redi-Whip
Heavy Whipping Cream
Frozen Yogurt
Ice Cream
FOR THE DECORATIONS:
Think about things that would make good toppings for ice cream, and many would work for the decorations. These would work for any time of the year, not just holidays:
- Other sprinkle varieties
- Chocolate Chips
- Mini Chocolate Chips
- M & Ms
- Mini M & Ms
- Cookie Crumble
- Brownie Crumble
- Chopped Nuts
- Chopped Chocolate Candy (think Twix, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, etc).
- Coconut
I love this red, white and blue treat because: #1. They’re festive and patriotic. #2 They’re SO easy to make. #3. They’re so cheap to make. #4 No measuring or real recipe -my kinda dessert! #5. No bake. #6. They’re no mess for the kids, and they just love them! #7. They’re low calorie and Weight-Watchers-friendly! In other words, they’re perfect! Simple, cheap, low calorie – that’s just my style!
