If you are looking for something fun, creative and out of the box to use as an Easter basket that is not actually a basket, here are 45 brilliant Easter basket ideas that every kid in your house will love!
I’ve been looking all over this spring season for some creative ideas for Easter baskets. I’ve got no gripe with the traditional Easter basket, but I do not want more non-functional stuff around the house. If I am going to bring one more object into my home, then it needs to be something that will be useful after Easter!
There are so many great ideas for Easter baskets-not-baskets. With a little creativity, almost every Easter basket can double as something else that is useful. I mean, c’mon – what kid really cares about the basket itself? They are all about the goodies and the basket gets tossed aside. Why not get a ‘basket’ that they can use later – or that mom can use? No shame in commandeering that container for yourself!
Below are some genius ideas. I’ve categorized them for Little Ones and For Older Ones. There’s no hard rule or age, but just to give the items some organization. There’s also a category that is adaptable for any age. I didn’t separate by gender because you really can adapt most of these basket to be suitable for boys or girls.
At the end, I’ve included some other containers I thought would make great Easter baskets. Those items in those pictures aren’t decorated for Easter, but I’m sure your imagination can fill in the blanks!

More Creative Easter ‘Baskets’
Here are some more ideas of fun, creative containers that can double as Easter baskets. It won’t take very much imagination to fill these up with some Easter goodies that are custom-picked for your kiddos.
If your boys love to dress up and pretend, this is the perfect basket for them! Cowboys, police officers, firemen…so much post-Easter fun to be had!
These are such fun dress-up hats for little girls! They would make adorable Easter baskets as well!
34| Wheel Barrow
My boys love anything they can push around. This would be a blast to fill up, and it would be great to use outside once the weather warms up. Lots of extra toys included, too!
35| Bicycle Basket
If your girl rides a bike and has always wanted a basket, this is the perfect time to give it to her as an Easter basket!
36| Sewing Basket
If you have a girl who is into sewing, an Easter sewing basket is something I’m sure she would love!
37| Dump Truck
This is another fun take on a dump truck basket for boys. My sons actually have this truck, and the bed of the truck has plenty of space to fill with Easter goodies.
38| Hamper
This one might be more for mom than for the kids, but it’s super-cute and multi-functional. A larger basket like this would be great for a joint sibling basket.
39| Laundry Basket
This idea came to be because I kept telling myself I need to buy a new laundry basket! If you need a second basket, Easter is the perfect time to pick one up and toss your kid’s Easter treats in at the same time. A win for everyone!
This is another useful option. If you have some organizing to do and need some fabric bins, fill them up with Easter treats and then use them for storage and organization once you are done!
If you are in the market for new luggage for your little one, this would be the perfect time and fill it with Easter treats. A back-pack could also work well, too! I especially like this idea if you are planning a surprise Spring Break trip after Easter. This would be a super-fun way to tell your kids about it!
42| Tool Box
If your boy (or girl) is into tools, this would be such a fun way to deliver their Easter goodies! Plus, so many fun tools!
43| Make-Up Bag
I love this idea for an older pre-teen or high school girl! Nothing makes a girl feel more grown up than her own make-up bag. Easter is the perfect time to give her one!
44| Kayak
OK, this might be a little extravagant for Easter, but if this is something that you were considering buying for your family anyway, this would be a super-fun way to present it!
45| Ride-On Wagon
This is really fun for the little ones, now that spring is coming. My boys LOVE riding in their wagon, and how fun would it be for them to see it filled up with Easter treats!
I hope this list got your imagination moving and inspired you to think out of the box in a creative way! There are so many fun ways to put together an Easter basket that your kids will love. These ideas are just the starting point. I’m sure you can come up with your own brilliant version! I’m not advocating going crazying and adding stress, but sometimes it’s super-fun to change things up a little, especially as your kids get older and they lose some of the thrill. I’d love to know what you come up with!
Any ideas that you love? I want to know!
