Sharing is caring!

If you are looking for something fun, creative and out of the box to use instead of an Easter basket? Here are 50 brilliant Easter basket alternatives that every kid in your house will love!

Options for babies, toddlers, older kids as well as tweens and teens!

Easter Baskets That Aren’t Baskets

I’ve been looking all over this spring season for some creative ideas for Easter baskets.  I’ve got no gripe with the traditional Easter basket, but I do not want more non-functional stuff around the house.

If I am going to bring one more object into my home, then it needs to be something that will be useful after Easter!

There are so many great ideas for Easter baskets-not-baskets.  With a little creativity, almost every Easter basket can double as something else that is useful.

I mean, c’mon – what kid really cares about the basket itself?  They are all about the goodies and the basket gets tossed aside.  Why not get a ‘basket’ that they can use later – or that mom can use?

No shame in commandeering that container for yourself!

Below are some genius ideas.

At the end, I’ve included some other containers I thought would make great Easter baskets.

Those items in those pictures aren’t decorated for Easter, but I’m sure your imagination can fill in the blanks!

More Non-Traditional Easter ‘Baskets’

Here are some more ideas of fun, creative containers that can double as Easter baskets.  It won’t take very much imagination to fill these up with some Easter goodies that are custom-picked for your kiddos.

34| Boys Dress Up Hats

If your boys love to dress up and pretend, this is the perfect basket for them!  Cowboys, police officers, firemen…so much post-Easter fun to be had!

Great choice if there’s something special they want to be when they grow up!

35| Girls Dress Up Hats

These are such fun dress-up hats for little girls! They would make adorable Easter baskets as well!

36| Wheelbarrow

My boys love anything they can push around.  This would be a blast to fill up, and it would be great to use outside once the weather warms up.

Lots of extra garden toys included, too!

37| Bicycle Basket

If your girl rides a bike and has always wanted a basket, this is the perfect time to give it to her as an Easter basket!

38| Sewing Basket

If you have a girl who is into sewing, an Easter sewing basket is something I’m sure she would love!

39| Photo Box Easter Basket

Kids love to have all kinds of boxes and containers to keep their special things and items they collect.

Use a photo box as a basket, and let the child fill it up with their unique treasures afterward!

40| Hamper

This one might be more for mom than for the kids, but it’s super-cute and multi-functional.  A larger basket like this would be great for a joint sibling basket.

And maybe they’ll get the hint that dirty clothes go in it, after Easter is over!

41| Laundry Basket

This idea came to be because I kept telling myself I need to buy a new laundry basket!

If you need a second basket, Easter is the perfect time to pick one up and toss your kid’s Easter treats in at the same time.

A win for everyone!

42| Fabric Storage Bins

This is another useful option.  If you have some organizing to do and need some fabric bins, fill them up with Easter treats and then use them for storage and organization once you are done!

43|Kid Luggage

If you are in the market for new luggage for your little one, this would be the perfect time and fill it with Easter treats.  A back-pack could also work well, too!

I especially like this idea if you are planning a surprise Spring Break trip after Easter.  This would be a super-fun way to tell your kids about it!

44| Tool Box

If your boy (or girl) is into tools, this would be such a fun way to deliver their Easter goodies!

Plus, so many fun tools!

45| Make-Up Bag

I love this idea for an older pre-teen or high school girl!  Nothing makes a girl feel more grown-up than her own make-up bag.

Easter is the perfect time to give her one!  Caboodles is another fun idea along the lines of a make-up bag, but with firm plastic.

46|Soft Lunch Box

A lunch box is another fun idea for kids! Sometimes, by this time of year, the one they have has been through the wars!

Or, you can even put this one away until next year! But it’s a multi-functional option!

47|Backpack

A new backpack is another fun idea for kids!

They can use this for the rest of the school year, save it for summer for a special trip or camp –  you can even put this one away until next year! But it’s a multi-functional option!

48| Ride-On Wagon

This is really fun for the little ones, now that spring is coming.

My boys LOVE riding in their wagon, and how fun would it be for them to see it filled up with Easter treats!

49| Lap Tray

A lap tray is another fun idea for a basket container!

You can get a more neutral type like this or you can purchase one geared more for littles like this one.

Even a portable travel version would be fun, especially if you have a road trip coming up!

50| Teepee Hideaway

This is another fun idea to put the basket in! I like to give my kids bigger gifts sometimes, but not really for ‘no reason.’

If you’re the same, giving them a teepee to house their Easter baskets is a fun way to gift it to them! My sons loved this and they are ALWAYS hanging out in their boy hideaway!
