A Stylish Fall Home That’s Within Reach
A lot of time, when I’m coming out of summer and heading into fall, my mind starts rolo-dexing through all the ideas to consider for fall decorating.
I know I want classy fall decor (and of course, ‘classy’ is very individually defined) – but I mean something a little more polished and elevated, less ‘cutesy.’
I struggle sometimes coming up with a concept, but I had to stop myself. Fall decorations do not need to be reinvented.
Sometimes all you need it one fresh idea to throw in the mix or restyling what you have in a different way or in a different location in your house.
Today I want to share some really beautiful ideas and tips for when you just want a little fall refresh. Just something a little bit different than what you’ve done in years past. Not a huge overhaul, just some fresh inspiration.
In the pictures below, you’ll see neutral fall decor along with creative color palettes or bright pops of color.
You’ll see elegant fall decor that lands on the minimalist side of the spectrum, as well as some that are a little more lush.
You’ll see traditional colors and lots of pumpkins as well as decor with not a pumpkin in sight!
You’ll see fall shelf decor ideas along with mantel and tray decorating ideas as well. And lots of cozy fall porch decor ideas, too!
So let’s check out these beautiful inspiration pics!
25 Cozy (and Classy 😉) Fall Decorating Ideas for the Home
Instead of pumpkins in a wreath form, try pampas grass! It's classy, elegant, and works especially well against a dark door. I love the look of real florals, but it's a lot of upkeep! The good news is that you can mix faux pumpkins, leaves, and even trees with real pumpkins, mums and other fall florals for a full and layered look. Use fall wreaths in unexpected places, like over a picture frame with vintage scrapbook paper as a backdrop, or over a vintage window frame. Unexpected color combos can bring an element of interest, and even surprise! This navy & copper theme brings a moody aesthetic instead of the traditional orange color palette. Why use just one when you can use 3? These wreaths are minimalist in style, but grouped together, they have a striking effect! Treat your open kitchen or living room shelves like a wall gallery — a few seasonal pieces mixed in is more elegant than a crowded shelf. Here, the colors do most of the heavy lifting, instead of the decor! Feathers in fall colors are a perfect natural addition to autumn decor. They are less predictable than using fall leaves, but fit in perfectly! We don't always think of florals for fall, but dried florals are actually a gorgeous and unique inclusion that fit in perfectly. If you want a fall house where orange is nowhere in sight, try neutral tones, white pumpkins, and other warm colors like you see here. Coordinated pumpkins in all shapes and hues do the heavy lifting here! Totally acceptable - and beautiful! I love this idea for a minimalist gallery wall! Elegant, but so simple. And inexpensive! This gives the feel that you were just outside foraging and came back in with a beautiful basket of a mixture of fall branches! Pears are one of the most overlooked items for fall decor! Use faux or real, green or brown... they are perfect for early fall when transitioning out of summer decor. This combo is dramatic and stunning! If you have black anywhere in your home for a backdrop, try this neutral but striking color combo! Corn stalks are often another overlooked fall element. You can use them standing tall on their own, as part of a wreath, or in their own in a vase with other fall florals! Apples are often overshadowed by pumpkins for fall decor, but apple are especially fitting for early autumn decorating for some cozy nostalgic charm. We don't always think of metals to create warmth, but copper is perfect for autumn! If you're decorating a kitchen, copper mugs, utensils, and teapots are useful while serving double duty as decor. In this case, less is more! Create a gorgeous pumpkin like this using decoupage! If minimalism isn't for you, try a lush fall mantel like this one! Garland isn't just for mantels! It looks stunning around a doorframe, both indoor and outdoor. I love the choice of purple for this fall porch! It's bright, vibrant, energetic, while also having a moody vibe. A perfect combo. I love the idea of using a vintage galvanized bucket for florals and foliage. The whole thing is full of cozy front porch fall decorating ideas! Notice that it's the colors that are creating the fall effect, not the items! Vintage books, brass, warm metals all come together to communicate fall, without any traditional fall elements. A decorated entryway is such a warm welcome. I love the fall touches in this one - not overwhelming but just enough to feel intentional! A vintage chair is such an overlooked neutral prop, but it works seamlessly to add height and interest! I love this one paired with that gorgeous wreath!
