40+ Cozy DIY Winter Decor Crafts for Adults
If you need help decorating your home after Christmas and don’t know where to start, here’s help! Here are 40 winter decorations you can DIY! Easy, budget-friendly, in cozy farmhouse & cabincore styles!
How Can I Decorate My Home in January?
That’s the big question, right? After all the Christmas decor comes down, then what? It can feel sparse and empty, and putting the ‘regular’ stuff out doesn’t feel quite right either, does it?
Well, I definitely have a few thoughts on this (are you surprised? lol). First, even though things feel more bare after Christmas, I kind of like it. Christmas is amazing, but sometimes… it’s so much.
It feels like a winter cleaning once the Christmas decorations come down, and I sort of roll with the minimalistic feel. The removal of the alll the clutter and stuff feels likes a breath of brisk winter air.
So, I like my house to be decorated with that same feel. Less truly is more. I encourage you to embrace that.
Second, if you do your Christmas decorating right, it can easily transition into winter decor. What do I mean by that?
Well, as a lazy decorator, I try to stream-line as much as I can. So, I intentionally do not do a lot of red because a lot of the other stuff that doesn’t scream “Merry Christmas” can be kept around. Of course, the signs, ornaments – things like that- should go away until next year.
But, the greens, the trees, the snowflakes, the snowmen … as long as they aren’t red, can stick around. So, it makes for an easy transition to winter.
How Do I Make My House Cozy in the Winter?
In all of my decorating, budget-friendly decorating for sure, DIYs are a staple. Not only are they fun for me to do, but it is a cool sense of pride to see your own handiwork displayed in your home.

Themes for Winter DIY Decorations
As you go through the list of DIY winter projects for the home, you’ll notice there are some ‘themes’ or trends. I’ve tried to group them together so you can see a progression. But basically, you’ll see variations of the following in the winter crafts:
Winter Greens
Pine Cones
Trees and Branches
Candles and Lights
Snow Theme
Blanket and Sweaters
All of these work together to create a cohesive theme of winter without being ‘too much.’ You can use them sparsely, as a continuing theme through your house, or maybe just where you need a little something.
Lots of them even will look gorgeous outside on your winter porch!
Even the snow decor contributes to a cozy, hibernating vibe for the winter.
OK, let’s check out these amazing winter DIY projects! Lots of these are even pretty enough to sell and make some side cash!
