DIY Easter Baskets for Your Favorite Teenager

I was a high school teacher for 14 years, and I understand how squirrely the teenage years can be. Teaching teenagers was my wheelhouse, but I know it can be an entirely different thing to live with one (my twins will be 10 years old next month, so it’s not that far away for me!)

You might be a little stuck with for an appropriate Easter ‘basket’ for your tween or teen. They are too old for a traditional candy basket, but yet you want to do something special for them.

Today I’ve got lots of idea to inspire you.

Suggestions for Creating an Easter Basket for Your Teen or Tween

You’ll get a chance to look through the roundup for specific ideas, but in addition to that, I have just 2 suggestions if you need some guidance.

1| Think ‘theme’

If you aren’t sure what to fill a basket with, think of a fun theme of something your child is into. Art? Reading? Gaming? Sports? Baking?

A lot of times, the theme will build the basket.

2| Think ‘useful container’

You might not be wrong if you feel like an Easter basket is too kid-like for them. I highly suggest an alternative container.

There are lots of ways you can go, but I think something that is useful after the holiday is smart.

After the roundup, I’ll share some creative ideas for containers, if you want to mix-and-match a few of the suggestions or build from the container up.

If you can’t come up with a fun theme, that’s fine! Sometimes, the container will be the highlight, and you can fill it with some of their favorite goodies and treats.

Ok, shall we get to those ideas?

30| Sewing Basket

If you have a girl who is into sewing, an Easter sewing basket is something I’m sure she would love!

31| Photo Box Easter Basket

Teens love to have all kinds of boxes and containers to keep their special things and items they collect.

Use a photo box as a basket, and let your son or daughter fill it up with their unique treasures afterward!

32| Hamper

This one might be more for mom than for the kids, but it’s super-cute and multi-functional.  A larger basket like this would be great for a joint sibling basket.

And maybe they’ll get the hint that dirty clothes go in it, after Easter is over!

33| Storage Basket

I love baskets like this! They are so great to store blankets, pillows, stuffed animals they can’t part with – and even use for laundry, if needed!

Easter is the perfect time to pick one up and toss your kid’s Easter treats in at the same time.

34| Fabric Storage Bins

This is another useful option.  If your child has some organizing to do and need some fabric bins, fill them up with Easter treats and then have your teen use them for storage and organization once they’re done!

35| Teenage Luggage

If your teen needs new luggage, this would be the perfect time to grab it and fill it with Easter treats.

I especially like this idea if you are planning a surprise Spring Break trip after Easter.  This would be a super-fun way to tell your teens about it!

36| Over the Door Shoe Organizer

I love this idea! Not only can your son or daughter keep their shoes organized after Easter, but there are so many spaces to fill with unique treats and gifts.

37| Make-Up Bag

I love this idea for a pre-teen or high school girl!  Nothing makes a girl feel more grown-up than her own make-up bag.

Easter is the perfect time to give her one!  Caboodles is another fun idea along the lines of a make-up bag, but with firm plastic.

38| Soft Lunch Box

If your tween or teen still used a lunch box, this is a great way to pack and gift Easter treats and gifts. Or, you can even put this one away until next year! But it’s a multi-functional option!

39| Backpack

A new backpack is another fun idea for kids!

They can use this for the rest of the school year, save it for summer for a special trip or camp –  you can even put this one away until next year! But it’s a multi-functional option!

40| Lap Tray

A lap tray is another fun idea for a basket container! Great for eating, using a laptop, or reading a book!
