THE BEST OF BOTH (CRAFT) WORLDS

It’s no secret that I love a good craft. However, I’m not really a fan of all the prep involved ahead of time. Crafting is the one area of my life where I want to be a little ‘fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants,’ because in real life, there aren’t a whole lot of times where that’s practical.
And honestly, in crafting, it’s not always that practical either.
However, if you’re like me and love the DIY part but not the prep-and-thinking-through part, you’re in for a treat today!
If you’ve been following along with my In Bloom craft kit series, today marks #5 of 5 in the In Bloom Craft Collection from Crafted by Concord & 9th this spring.
Today is our final project, and I think you’re gonna love this one, the Gather’s Blooms Paper Flower and Vase craft. As with most of the projects, I wasn’t sure what I’d think, as paper home decor crafts hasn’t really been my thing. But I feel like these kits have not only made crafting fun again, but made home decor fun again, too.

Let’s get started!
(This post in #5 in a series of 5 crafts. You can get an overview of all 5 crafts here!)
WHAT’S IN THE BOX
Everything was so thoughtfully designed and packaged – and it includes absolutely everything you need for this craft, clearly labeled.

There’s a card in the box that has a QR code on the back so you can access the directions. The instructions are in both written and video form.
I love that both were included. Sometimes, I just needed to read it. But for this particular project, I went to the video several times when my brain wasn’t computing the instructions. It was incredibly helpful to have that!
Below is a screen shot of what you’ll see when you snap the QR code (this image is for the Bird and Bloom craft, but every craft links to its own page just like the one below).

THE CRAFT EXPERIENCE
Making the Gathered Blooms kit was the most complex of all the crafts, which is why I saved this one for last. The vase was a separate construction from the flowers, which had 2 parts – both an inner and outer piece.

Then, there were 2 different kinds of flowers, with several parts each.

I clocked in at about 1.5 hours, so this one took the longest as well.
This craft definitely required concentration for some parts. Yet, there were other parts that were somewhat mindless (like curling the flowers with the bone folder).
Honestly, the trickiest part was getting the pom poms to stay glued to the center of the flowers! I definitely recommend a glue gun for that part!
The most pleasant surprise of this project the texture and layers of the flowers! It was really hard to believe at different points that these were paper flowers!

THE FINISHED PIECE
Here she is, all finished up!

I tried her out on my coffee table, which I loved.

But sadly, so did my cats. 🙁
So I ended up moving her to my mantel. I added the flower vase to the other In Bloom crafts in this collection, and I really love how they look together.
An absolutely cohesive look without feeling like ‘too much.’

THE VERDICT
Though more involved than the other crafts, I really did love this one. I’d recommend this kit for someone:
- Enjoys creative hobbies and hands-on projects
- Doesn’t have a lot of extra time or mental energy to prep materials
- Prefers crafts that are ready to start right away
- Appreciates the convenience of having everything included in one box (and will spend a little for that)
- Wants a little bit of a challenge in crafting
- Would love giving a complete DIY kit as a thoughtful gift for another craft lover
