Christmas Centerpieces: Decor Even a Minimalist Can Love
When I think about decorating my house for Christmas – I’m not gonna lie. Looking at all of those bins and boxes feels so overwhelming.
While I truly love going all out for Christmas, it pains me just a little because it’s such a short season!
There have been years when I haven’t had the energy, time, or money to go full-on Clark Griswold. And that’s where I think a DIY Christmas centerpiece can fit in.
A Christmas Centerpiece: What It Is and What It Isn’t
First, a Christmas centerpiece is amazing if you just want a little something on your dining room or kitchen table without having to commit to a full Christmas tablescape.
Often, it’s easy to move it, so you can continue to function at the table you eat at, all season long.
Christmas centerpieces are also great if you’re throwing a Christmas party – whether at your own home or at church, for work, etc.
It’s a substantial piece of Christmas decor without needing alll of the materials of a full tablescape. It’s not overwhelming in a room, but it packs a big punch and definitely makes a statement. To me, a table feels incomplete without it!
A Christmas centerpiece can be a thoughtfully-styled vignette, or it can be as simple as Christmas florals in a vase.
As for what it’s not… it’s not a full Christmas tablescape complete with runners, garland, place setting, name cards, etc.
A DIY centerpiece is perfect for minimalists, for those who need their table to function throughout the season, for those who don’t want to commit to a full tablescape (or don’t even need one!).
And there is zero shame in keeping decor simple and just having a little something to enhance the Christmas vibe in your home.
(If you are looking for Christmas tablescapes, I’ve got 35+ gorgeous Christmas tables you can take a look at here!)

Anchor
This might be a tray, a riser, a cutting board, a table runner, even a simple container like a vase, planters, mason jars, baskets, or a dough bowl.
Items from Nature
This would include Christmas greens, berry stems, branches (white-washed or natural), birch logs, pine cones, cinnamon sticks, dried orange slices, seasonal flowers and fruit such as pomegranates.
Christmas Decor
Here, you may choose to include Christmas ornaments, candles, ceramic trees, vintage Christmas accents, lanterns, or wooden reindeer.
