Once the weather starts warming up around here in Tennessee, Americana is on my radar. It feels like the introduction to summer, starting with Memorial Day, through 4th of July, and then on through Labor Day.
I love including Independence Day decor in my home, and that usually is the theme for summer decor. Keeps things simple, and who doesn’t love simple?
Creating easy patriotic crafts just for adults is such a fun way for me to occupy my ‘downtime’ now that my sons are a little older – 11 years old- and much more self-sufficient. And sometimes, they even like to join in the crafts.
Today, I’m sharing red, white, and blue DIY projects that are genuinely beautiful Americana decor you’ll want displayed all summer long.

These are made with toilet paper rolls and scrapbook paper. So fun for a centerpiece, but I'm sure my sons would be flying these all over the house! Who would have thought you could make a wreath from straws? I love how striking this is. The stars are removable so it could easily be repurposed to a Christmas or Valentine's Day wreath as well. I love this super-simple but super-fun garland! Lots of places you can hang this! I just love the Americana feel of this project. If you like scrapbook paper crafts, this is another fun one to add some quick, festive decor. I love this fun and easy DIY! You used oil-based paint pens, the same way you would if you decorating mugs - baking and all! I just love this craft. It's so easy and has a real striking effect! I made these and they were done in minutes! (Note: if you don't have different size cupcake liners, you can just trim the edges to make the center ones smaller!) I'm a big fan of Dollar Tree crafts! I LOVE how easy this one is to make with a mini pallet and napkin! Genius!
