Easter: The Reason for Every Celebration
Sometimes, I look at the news or my social media feed and feel like the world has gone crazy. Like it’s legit clown town 6 out of 7 days a week.
Even if the news cycle isn’t out of control, sometimes our own everyday lives feel a little hard, too, these days.
Regardless and thankfully, Easter truly gives us EVERY reason to celebrate.
If Jesus can rise from the dead, what is impossible? If He conquered death, what can’t He conquer?
And, we have HOPE ETERNAL, knowing this life isn’t all there is, and one day Jesus will come and make all this right.
Has anyone else been praying, ‘Jesus, fix it!’? Knowing that someday, He will, gives us all the reason to celebrate.
Believe It or Not, Easter Decor Can Help
Last year, I found that in the midst of the madness, DIY projects, decorating, creating a cheerful and hopeful space can do us a lot of good – mentally and emotionally.
Whether you typically decorate for Easter or not, from past experience, I learned that it did a little good to have some cheerful decor, and if nothing else, a distraction.
I know money is tight for some (it’s tight for us always, lol) so I want to share some easy ways you can decorate for Easter without spending a lot.
I don’t do a ton of Easter decorating – a few vignettes here and there, but it’s just enough to brighten up the spring decor with some Easter reminders.
Here’s how I get it done on a budget.
Easy and Cheap Ways to Decorate for Easter

1| Use What’s Free
I love using what’s free. Think about flowers from your yard. Put them in jars that are leftover from food – spaghetti sauce, salsa, pesto… those all make great flower holders! It’s all free!
You can also collect some branches, paint them white (or keep them natural) and hang some cheap Dollar Tree eggs from it!
Forsythias in a recycled spaghetti sauce jar also look amazing!
I also love to use free printables as decor! You can use frames that you already have, or you can make some of these easy DIY hanger frames to hang them in!
Here’s an example of an Easter “He is Risen” free printable you can grab. You can see how I styled it below! You can get the free printable here!
I also love to use free printables as tier tray signs (you can learn how to make these mini signs here!)
(These particular prints aren’t free, but you can use any Easter printable you like! If you want these particular ones, you can find them very inexpensively in my Etsy shop!)
And you can even use free printable Easter gift tags as decor! This post has a ton of ways I’ve used them in my own Easter decor!
2| Easter DIY Projects
DIY projects are a great way to save money on Easter decor. Pinterest is a gold mine for Easter DIY project and you know what else is? Instagram!
Use the hashtag and you’ll find videos right there for simple DIYs. And MANY are cheap, Dollar Tree crafts that look amazing!
And if you really love rustic farmhouse decor, here are 30 Rustic Farmhouse Easter DIY Decorations!
You can also think beyond just straight-up Easter decorations for DIYs – you can do baskets, tier trays, painted terra cotta pots, wreaths – all of those easy DIYs can be accents and used with your Easter decor.
For example, this spring wreath DIY was a great compliment to the Easter printable.
Here are no-sew ‘faux canvas’ dish towel wall hangings I made from Easter towels! Just a few dollars to make! 🙂
3| Upcycled Decor
Right along with DIYs, upcycling what you have or what you’ve found from thrift stores is another way to decorate for Easter on a budget.
For example, I found this Easter tree at the thrift store, but I wasn’t a fan of the colors.
So, I pulled off the eggs I didn’t want and added some more neutral-colored eggs that I already had that went more with my decor!
I also added this tree to my Easter porch decor as well!
I also repurposed this Dollar Tree Easter sign. You can keep the sign if you like it, or you can create a faux shiplap sign, like the one I did here!
Here’s how I repurposed the sign above! (Here are the instructions for how to make a sign similar to this without using a Cricut, Silhouette, or a fancy machine!)
In this Spring Farmhouse Free Printables post, you can grab the “Fresh Market Flowers” free printable to make a sign or just to print out and frame it.
(There’s also the “He is Risen” sign from above in that same spring printable post, so you can use that same technique to repurpose a Dollar Tree sign and make your own Easter sign!)
In this tier tray, the bunny came from the Dollar Tree Easter sign I showed above. I just pulled it off and put it in the tray.
There are many ways you can repurpose what you already have with a just a few adjustments… paint, swapping things out, DIYs. Take a look at your own inventory and see how you can spice it up!
4| Add in Spring and/or Neutral Decor
There are probably many pieces you have around your house that you can use with your Easter decor that aren’t necessarily Easter – but they complement it perfectly!
For example, most of your spring floral decor will work with Easter decor. Those are great for filling in some of those spaces where you don’t have specific Easter decor.
Even some of your more neutral signs or decor can be added in as filler along with Easter decor.
You can see in the picture above that not everything is Easter-specific. The gray basket (another DIY!) is neutral enough to fit.
The flowers in the pitcher along with the decorated riser are from my spring set up. So is most of the decor in the round coffee table basket.
The only real Easter decor are the egg trees, the “Risen” printable (in the Etsy shop also), and the basket on the bottom (basket and reindeer moss from Dollar Tree, eggs from Hobby Lobby!).
Yet, it all blends together for a cute little Easter vignette.
5| Dollar Tree Decor
I like to use Dollar Tree for certain items, and some items I like to get for repurposing (like the sign I showed you above).
Here are some apothecary jars I made from Dollar Tree jars and candlesticks and painted with chalk paint. Then, I just filled with some Easter decor.
The gold and blue eggs, votive candles, raffia, and moss are from Dollar Tree. The speckled eggs and nest are from Hobby Lobby.
The candy is milk chocolate and peanut M&Ms – I just took out the pink and purple ones, for continuity in decor! 🙂
On this 3-tier tray (another DIY project), the moss rocks, the reindeer moss, the tags for the faux flowers, the flower pots, the carrots are all from Dollar Tree!
On my porch, I used these large branch stems from Dollar tree in a repurposed pickle jar with eggs from Hobby Lobby!
6| Hobby Lobby
Hobby Lobby is a great choice because they discount their seasonal decor so early! Most of their Easter decor is 40% off.
{FYI- Walmart, Dollar General, Big Lots, Amazon, etc. are also places you can grab cheap Easter decor as well, in farmhouse style! Christmas Tree Shop is another favorite as is the Target Dollar Spot!}
The more neutral-colored eggs, the beige carrots, the bird’s nests were also from Hobby Lobby. I also got the little buffalo check signs from Hobby Lobby.
There were 4 different designs, and I printed out one of the free printables in the bundle shown above to put in one of the signs.
In this jar, I filled it with Spanish moss from Dollar Tree, put some speckled eggs from Hobby Lobby and tied with raffia.
I personally don’t do a lot of bunny decor for Easter, or even a lot of decor in general because it’s a short season.
I typically prefer spring, but you can easily use some of the same pieces for both seasons (carrots, birds nest, even some of the eggs work for spring, too).
7| Etsy
I love Etsy for really unique pieces – and right now, it’s a great way to support small businesses! Below you can find some of my favorite pieces on Etsy, all of them $15 or LESS!
Primitive Ticking Stripe Bunny
I love these bunnies for farmhouse decor! Even if you aren’t into cutesy so much (hand-raised, lol), these are stylish. Love that ticking stripe!
Along the lines of bunnies, these wood versions are fantastic, too.
Christian Tiered Tray Easter Signs
If you don’t want to DIY tier tray signs, these signs are an affordable option! I love that his particular set has a focus on the Resurrection!
Bead garland is great any time of the year, but in these soft pastel colors, it’s perfect for Easter and for spring decor, too.
I’ve been into mini printed pillows as filler decor this year. I just LOVE the carrot version of them. Perfect if your Easter decor is neutral.
Trucks and stacked books are still going strong as farmhouse decor! An adorable Easter version.
How fun are these? I just love the creativity to use beads like this. This is something I’d even keep out with spring decor as well.
Oh, I just LOVE these wooden tags. Go grab these before they sell out.
Can never go wrong with Rae Dunn-inspired decor. These eggs are a fun Easter version!
This is a great option for mantel or shelf decor. It would even look great hanging on a window.
Easter is NOT Canceled!
A year ago, things felt so bleak, but look at where we are a year later. And Easter really gives us all the hope in the world. Your celebration still might look different than most years, but Jesus is alive and well and He is still in control.
I hope these Easter decorations will be a visual reminder of the hope that we STILL have because HE IS RISEN!
